    Teacher Whoops

    Just read this article: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/app...=2013130111019

Got me thinking, thought it may be fun to hear stories from you all of teachers having "whoops" moments.

One that came to mind for me was in high school when our English class watched the old "Romeo and Juliet" movie. Our teacher knew when she needed to fast forward for the one full frontal Juliet scene, but for our class the teacher was doing another task and the class got to see it all.

I don't think any of our parents cared and emailed the administration.

I got in trouble in 1st grade when I questioned the validity of a teachers claim that penguins were not real birds because they don't lay eggs.

We watched Shawshank Redemption in a high school literature class...

I guess I don't see anything wrong with showing a trailer, though I haven't seen that trailer so I don't know what's shown.

    Re: Teacher Whoops

First few seconds of the trailer?
Shrug it off. I don't remember this trailer specifically, but I can't believe that there was anything grisly in the trailer, much less the opening seconds.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

    Re: Teacher Whoops

There shouldntve been anything wrong with the trailer, i doubt it was a red-band trailer so it wouldve been pretty tame. And its an 8th grade class, that child has already seen far worse things.

    Re: Teacher Whoops

I tutor at an elementary school and it wasn't an oops that I did but as I was supervising a group of girls coloring after they finished their work, one of them drew a stick figure with a line down the middle of the stick figure. I didn't think anything of it until she said, "No, I meant to draw a girl not a boy!" then I told her the only way to get rid of it was to color over it so she did. A few minutes later the other girl was trying to talk about a woodpecker but called it a peckerwood. This sent the other girl off saying she knew what that girl was talking about and that she knew what the first word was. She refused to believe there was such thing as a woodpecker. 5 year olds should not know this much!

Just give the mother some time and she'll probably file a lawsuit saying the preview has caused mental anguish on her child.

    Re: Teacher Whoops

Nearly every movie trailer is rated for 'all viewing audiences'.

So..... what's the problem here. Some people... ugh.

Edit: I guess some are 'appropriate audiences' now.

    Re: Teacher Whoops

I nearly got in trouble for trying to correct a substitute first grade teacher. In case you want to know, I was right in saying a whale is not a fish (they are mammals!). Stupid substitute.

    Re: Teacher Whoops

My cousin teaches at a Lutheran grade school in the Orlando area. The senior pastor of the church affiliated with the school was teaching the 5th grade boys sex ed. One of the kids asked how gay men have sex so the pastor (who was teaching this class for the first time) told them. Parents complained about it and the church sent the pastor to sensitivity training. He also never taught the class again.

    Re: Teacher Whoops

I got in trouble in 3rd grade because I told the boy next to me that horses would race over him and pound him down into hell.

I couldn't remember if heck or hell was the swear word, and picked incorrectly. Little **** tattled on me even though he was a far worse child than me. Heh, he's now got a pregnant wife and no money. KARMA, you soulless ginger!
