ESPN BIg 12 Worst Bowl Defeat--------

    ESPN says....

My No. 2, though, wouldn't have been West Virginia. I know Tulsa won the Conference USA, but getting completely outmuscled by a lower-conference team is never a good look, and after a strong first quarter, Iowa State hardly looked like it belonged on the same field with the Golden Hurricane. The fans showed up in Memphis in force, but the team looked absent. The offense was lost and the defense had little shot against a running game that consistently rotated in fresh backs.

    Spot on.

Lose against Tulsa, TULSA..SMALLEST US FBS school. ~~4000 students (Think 1/3 UNI. or Grinnelx2)

$250k coach who is in his SECOND year. TWO years ago he was coaching HIGH SCHOOL.

Stadium seats 30,000. DOWNSIZED five years ago from 45,000.

Recruit a distant THIRD against OK State and OU, and everyone else in Texas.

    Yeah, a HORRIBLE outing.

Re: ESPN BIg 12 Worst Bowl Defeat--------

    cannot disagree.
Paul is the only guy I want at HC, but I want him to step back himself and look at why this team had no "Life". Why? How could guys quit in that bowl they way they did? Hell, even Lenz didn't play like he should on that last int. It might have been better had we not gone to a bowl at all......seriously. All that "extra practice" crap. What is the point if that game was our product?
Is it that hard to coach? Lord, let the guys play ball with simple plays that work. Scout the other teams' weak links and take advantage. Our offensive x's adn o's are way out of whack with what we should be doing.

Rhoads is average and if he cannot see that changing the offense and OC, then he is not a very good head coach and is just a good PR spreaker.

Hopefully no one complains about not getting any respect from the media this coming season. This team set itself back a couple of years in the respect department with that turd it laid right in the middle of the Liberty Bowl field.

Was the whole flu thing covered in another post? I really don't see why coach played a quarterback that was throwing up the night before into the starting role? Who knows how many other guys were sick or getting sick. Just wondered?

That explains a lot of our offense to me.

Can't disagree. Almost two weeks later and it still feels like the program took a big step back. Just do not understand how the guys didn't show up. Don't tell me it was the flu. Half the team had the flu at Nebraska in '09 and they pulled one of the biggest upsets ever.

Something has to change on the offensive side. Development of players and development through the season just hasn't been there. Sad about the JB news today too.

Re: ESPN BIg 12 Worst Bowl Defeat--------

Coupled with how the team looked in the Pinstripe, these bowls are becoming letdowns — it's manageable competition, but ISU looks good early and then seems to disappear.

I won't downplay reaching a bowl, even if it seems stuck in the just-barely qualification zone. It does put perspective on postseason as a be-all — so many fans want the weakest schedule possible to make it easier to get into postseason. Then the game itself seems like an afterthought.

There's no putting lipstick on this one. We were physically manhandled by a C-USA team for 3 straight quarters.

I Agree they quit after the Canes smacked them in the mouth then they proceeded to Lay Down Like Dogs.

I dont want to hear anyone not coaches or fans to complain next year and play the RESPECT Card, after this disastrous bowl game WE don't deserve any RESPECT...NONE !!

This is some nice eyeliner though: both Tulane and ISU joined the exclusive Association of American Universities as full members in 1958. The only other Big 12 schools in the group are KU and UT (and TA&M and MIZZOU).

We were embarrassing on the football field though. We had a really great year and played tough throughout, but we looked very bad, ineffective actually, in Memphis.

    Either way, GO CYCLONES!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: ESPN BIg 12 Worst Bowl Defeat--------

We've been awful in bowl games under Rhoads. We were just lucky to play a team that didn't deserve to make one in '09.

Rhoads has done a great job building this program and making us competitive week in and week out. That's something we've not seen in this program in years. But for whatever reason he's just awful at bowl prep.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
