Enjoyed the interview, Fred was Fred. His interviews say everything about Fred. He is calm, patient, and totally engaged.

Re: CFTV: Hoiberg talks Texas, reflects on KU loss

Wow, I think that is about the longest response I have seen him give to a single question - or at least it seemed like it - when he addressed all of the criticism of his decision to play D rather than foul. Good for you, Fred. I sure hope that puts that discussion to rest here, at least. It is a debate and there is no clear cut right answer. People are foolish to say that ISU automatically wins if they foul. His experience says otherwise.

Thanks to you, CW, and your staff, for including all of his answer to that question rather than just putting a portion of it in that video as you edited it for time.

This has to be the play Hoiberg talked about:

KU in Phog Allen? 50/50 chance that would have been "and 1".

He did the right thing. Withey would have climed someones back and tipped a miss in, refs call a lane violation, Withey taps a miss back for a 3. I would much rather have them take a guarded 3 to tie.

Exactly like he says, it is situaltional. There isn't a right answer for everything.

Re: CFTV: Hoiberg talks Texas, reflects on KU loss

Love this interview and completely agree with him. Every situation is different and hindsight IS a beautiful thing. I bet you 7 or 8 times out of 10, that shot would be missed and they made it, it's as simple as that and it's hard to know whether to foul or not. I think both decisions ... to foul or to not foul...are completely valid decisions.

**** happens. As he said, it proved we can play with just about everybody in the country. Take away all the positives from that game (there were a lot) and take it to the next. The season is not over yet and that's beautiful. We need to start by beating Texas tomorrow

Re: CFTV: Hoiberg talks Texas, reflects on KU loss

All I care about at this point, is hopefully Fred and company will use this to fuel a great run to start the B12 this year.

They've proven they can play with anyone. Now it's time to defend Hilton and go undefeated at home. And at least split their road games along the way.

    That can happen.

Re: CFTV: Hoiberg talks Texas, reflects on KU loss

I like the way Fred addressed the foul/don't foul question, but I hate the fact that he felt he had to defend himself for 5 minutes. Also like the little ref slap in there about not getting a call at the end of the game at KU. Hope the Big 12 doesn't reprimand him for it.

He made the right call and shouldn't have to defend himself. Let it play out, and if he misses it's game over, or give KU and the refs extra time, to job us some other way. I could see an intentional or something stupid called.

Fred is awesome and has a ton of experience to draw on.

I love the comment about, <sic>"people with opinions who never dribbled a basketball".

It's also cool he spoke to Tim Floyd and they shared strategy; clearly Fred values Floyd's opinion.
