    Best Dark Beer?

Sam Adams Boston Lager and Guinness are both good beers, but I would say that Moose Drool is the best dark beer I've ever had. What say you?

Sammy Smith's Oatmeal Stout is pretty good, as is the Dogfish raisin beer if you want a little bit of a different flavor. I've heard nothing but good things about the Moose Drool but haven't had any.

I've not had these yet. I'll have to give them a try

I can't remember who made it, but my roommate had a double chocolate oatmeal stout.

I'm a big Shiner Bock fan, and I also enjoy Grain Belt Nordeast.

Because he's forcing you, or because he gets a bunch free? I haven't had too many of theirs that I would recommend to others.

I'm guessing the OP isn't talking about imperial stouts like Bourbon County, any stout Founders makes, or Stones Imperial Russian Stout...that being said, I really like Founders Porter or New Glarus Coffee Stout.

    Re: Best Dark Beer?

I usually head towards the stouts if I'm at a brew pub. Last one I had was a Russian Imperial Stout, which clocked in at 10% ABV.

Another good stout (which you can only get in certain areas of Houston) is Buffalo Bayou Gingerbread Stout. If you every get to a place where you have an option to taste something like this, I urge you to do so. It was fantastic!

    Re: Best Dark Beer?

I just bottled an American Black Ale homebrew a week ago. For those homebrewers out there, it's supposed to be about 70 IBUs. I added 5 oz of hops in a 3 gal recipe, plus an ounce of dry hops. If it tastes as good as it smells it just might become my new favorite dark beer.
