    Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

I posted this in another thread but it deserves its own.

    SI.com - NCAA Football - Carr*to announce retirement Monday - Sunday November 18, 2007 5:18PM

Other candidates might include Carolina Panthers Mike Trgovac, who played for the Wolverines and joined their coaching staff in 1984 as a graduate assistant, and Kirk Ferentz of Iowa, where University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman was before coming to Ann Arbor.
I don't see any way he leaves Iowa because he makes so much money there with 1/10 of the pressure.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

I hope he does go. I like the guy except he's a hawkturd right now and I would be able to root for him again if/when he leaves. Plus, dealing with the hawk lice infested DB fanbase, who wouldn't want to go. I'm sure Michigan fans are about as bad, but at least the wolverine fanbase have a thread of reason why they deserve better.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

The pressure has been huge on Ferentz. After the Illinois win, he was crying in the locker room in front of his players. He was falling apart prior to that one. And all of the off field stuff has to be taking it's toll. I believe he is a genuinely nice guy, but Iowa fans are tough on a coach and he's getting a lot of grief. I wouldn't blame him for leaving, especially for Michigan. How much he knows about this off field stuff remains to be seen. I would see Barta as the real villian here, if there is one.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

The possibility of Ferentz going to Michigan is about as likely as McCarney becoming the next Michigan coach.

Michigan will aim (and get) higher than Ferentz

Dude- you think leaving Iowa for Michigan will reduce the "pressure" he would be under? I don't see it... Michigan fan expects national titles and W's over OSU every year. While the delusional Iowa fan pretends to have lofty expectations, Michigan has titles and hardware to back up the expectations. Why would Michigan want him anyway? How often do coaches jump ship within a conference? I guess O'Brien did from BC to NCST this year and Saban from LSU to 'Bama via the Dolphins (the dude's only loyalty is to his checking account), but to me it seems like it would be pretty rare.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

You think Michigan is going to go after a coach who is 18-18 the last 3 years. Dan McCarney was 18-18 his last 3 years and look at the offers he is getting. Plus is Michigan willing to pay more then what Iowa is paying Ferentz? I wouldn't count on it. Why would Ferentz want to leave for less money, unless he knows he is getting fired.

I would do exactly what Ferentz is doing.... Milking around 3 million a year from Iowa to be nothing more then an average program.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

Michigan fans will only settle for a proven winner. I don't think Kirkie fits that definition for them. Miles would have to be their early choice.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

Michigan will not hire Ferentz (not saying even if they wanted him that he would want the job), because Ferentz is just a younger version of Lloyd Carr. Very conservative, play to not lose type coach. The only difference is that Michigan has way more talent.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

I'm not sure Michigan would want him. His stock has cooled after the last few years of mediocre performances. His recruiting class so far is ranked about where ours is by Rivals and Scout. Half his players end up in jail. He has the personality of a 2x4. And he's proven he has a lot of trouble beating Iowa State. His couple of good years are looking more and more like flukes. He did give $100,000 to the UI Foundation or something like that, so I guess he does rebate a little of his salary for sucking.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

I would have thought an EIU fan created this thread because only a Squawkeye would think that Kirkie was deserving of a job at I-AA school, let alone Michigan.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!

You mean Dan McCarney is not their first choice?

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!

As others have said...what a ridiculous assertion...there is no way he would get a sniff at Michigan with his mediocre record.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Maybe Michigan can hire Bo Pelini and then nothing could wipe that smile off my face.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

If Michigan would hire KF, I would personally drive up to Ann Arbor, and kick everyone involved with the make of that decision in the face. There would be no end to my anger.

    Re: Kirk Ferentz to Michigan?

That would be a hard sell to Michigan fans, given the last three years, and Ferentz could not keep the Michigan job with similar performance. He is a good guy, he should stay at Iowa. Lots of money, less pressure.
