Thumbs down Field of Dreams will be Parking Lot of Nightmares

Wade Boggs part of group that buys the Field of Dreams - CBSSports.com

I don't know how every one else feels about it. I'm extremely bummed as I had no clue. I've been out of state for a couple years and my grip on Iowa news non-ISU related has been weak. I didn't even know it was for sale.

Sounds like it will be a mega complex for little league kids running around screaming for their parents to give them money to buy Gatorade for them. 24 fields for baseball/softball, an indoor training facility, and who knows what else. Can't imagine the parking lot they'll put in for that disaster.

Re: Field of Dreams will be Parking Lot of Nightmares

For the record, I've never been there and always wanted to but Field of Dreams has been a favorite movie of mine since I was a kid. Spent a lot of time as a kid through HS at my hometown baseball complex playing ball, landscaping, mowing, watering grass and actually helped my dad, uncle, and a few other guys upgrade it when we were in early elementary school by picking up rocks in five gallon buckets before they made it level.

i enjoy it as well and have been past that movie site probably over a hundred times

    its going to be ruined

funny thing is the old owners used to always say they wouldnt sell out while feuding with the owner of the outfield who they thought sold out to get the most money from it

Re: Field of Dreams will be Parking Lot of Nightmares

Our baseball team stopped by there on the way back from a road trip in high school a couple of years after the movie came out...was pretty neat just to say you've been there...

My question is, why in the world does Dyersville need a 24 field complex? Seems a little over the top...

I'm also wondering why Dyersville needs this and why someone would put that much money into it.

Re: Field of Dreams will be Parking Lot of Nightmares

    Saw Field of Dreams. Meh.

Been to the movie set with several close friends/softball buddies. Meh.

My opinion on turning the set into 24 baseball fields? Meh.

It's Dyersville, and they love their baseball.

I'm guessing this will fall through at some point. 24 fields? For what?

This is awesome. Much better than a bunch of soccer fields.

Hopefully this concept takes off and replaces some of the soccer complexes.

Baseball is huge in that part of the state. Every little town had a town team with kids after high school up to 40 yer olds. Dyersville is a perennial state tourney baseball team.
