Way too early next season predictions...

Sat, Aug 30 South Dakota State Ames, Iowa W
Sat, Sep 06 Kent State Ames, Iowa TBA W
Sat, Sep 13 Iowa at Iowa City, Iowa TBA W
Sat, Sep 20 UNLV at Las Vegas, Nev. TBA W
Sat, Oct 04 Kansas * Ames, Iowa TBA L
Sat, Oct 11 Baylor * at Waco, Texas TBA W
Sat, Oct 18 Nebraska * Ames, Iowa TBA W
Sat, Oct 25 Texas A&M * Ames, Iowa TBA W
Sat, Nov 01 Oklahoma State * at Stillwater, Okla. TBA L
Sat, Nov 08 Colorado * at Boulder, Colo. TBA L
Sat, Nov 15 Missouri * Ames, Iowa TBA L
Sat, Nov 22 Kansas State * at Manhattan, Kan. TBA W

I give ISU 4-0 in the non-conference, the main opponent will be Iowa, I feel their whole program is in disarray and they are easy to defend against. Since the players will not have to learn the system againg there should not be the early growing pains we saw this year.

Conference schedule I think 3 lead pipe lock wins are against Baylor, kNU, and A&M. All 3 programs in turmoil and they will have new coaches. We do not play them late in the season either so hopefully the lightbulb will not have turned on with the players at these schools like it did for ISU.

I think Mizzou will be pretty decent again next season with Chase Daniel coming back. Let's talk KSU. ISU has beat KSU 3 of the last 4. I think Prince will be getting kind of desperate next season.

8-4 would be a great season and I do not feel like I am a kool-aid drinker by thinking this is possible.

The one thing that scares me though is the defensive line. I can see 8-4 changing to 6-6 real easy. I have faith that the coaches will be able to coach around some of those issues.

Wow, you are agressive. I say they lose to Iowa, KU, NU, AtM, Mizz, Colorado, 6-6.

I don't care how we get to 7 wins, but I would be happy with 7 wins and a trip to the Insight or sun bowl. That would be great for Chizik's 2nd year.

I don't think there's a game on the schedule we can't win, but there is a LOT of growing that's going to need to be done on this team next year, so I'm going to say a 6-6 season marred by mistakes in games we should win.

South Dakota State (ranked #27 prior to this weekend) will join the Gateway next season and yesterday beat #2 North Dakota State 29-24. Their QB is a Junior, RB is a senior and top receiver is a junior.

This game will be a shootout.

Re: Way too early next season predictions...

6-6 is a possibility in my mind. If i had to lay money on an exact win total they could reach, id go with 5 though. It wouldnt surprise me one bit to lose 1 or 2 non conference games. 2-2 worst case scenario in my mind.

I dont see ISU quite being ready for bowl time next season.

    2-3 wins max next year.

Re: Way too early next season predictions...

Did anyone watch the KU game yesterday and wonder, "how in the bleep did this happen at KU? why can't in happen to us at ISU...." I'm happy for Mangino and I like it when an administration sticks with a coach and gives him at least 5 years, and then when they said Mangino's first game was vs. ISU in Ames, and the result was 45-7 good guys, I started thinking where the two programs went since. It seemed Mangino had a long term plan with recruiting (the type of players needed for his style, and combing Texas especially for recruits), style of play etc... and I hate to bring him up again, but Mac seemingly just talked about how hard it was in the big12 and spinned moral victories of 2nd half wins vs. CU in '03 etc... to me it didn't seem like KU had anything more on ISU when it comes to football and resources for such a rise in talent, victories etc... when is it our freaking turn for something like this? Soon I hope with Chizik at the helm....

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

I see 4 wins, 4 losses, and 4 games that could go either way. Most likely 6-6 with an outside shot at a bowl game. I would be ok with that.

AMEN Brother!!! A decent FG kicker and a little more ball security and who knows where ISU could have ended up in '05.
