Meeks scores a takedown but gets reversed and takes injury time. Down 4-2 after Brewer gets to pick down after the injury. It'll be our call in the third and I think we have to pick neutral.

4-2 at the start of the third and we did pick neutral.

Well, it looks like the good news is that we should have won possibly. But I hate losing.

Brewer wins 6-2, I won't hold this last second takedown against Meeks just like I won't hold it against Goettl. When you have to score late sometimes you get countered because of the desperation. Everybody else has no excuse. Oklahoma wins it 15-19. Gibson being out did end up costing us the meet.

The good: Lots of improvement from our guys. Where we were favorites we won and where we weren't we pressed hard and came close. We had multiple unranked guys take ranked guys to the edge.

The bad: Still haven't turned the corner. Losing by 2 instead of 10 is an improvement but you gotta turn that into a win.

The ugly: The last ten seconds of the period for everybody not named Tanner or Kyven.

Judoka, Shafer weighed in at 184 tonight......could have wrestled 84,97, or HWT. In my opinion, I would have moved Kyven up to HWT and had Shafer wrestle 97 that way neither wrestler would be giving up so much weight.
Take down on the buzzer was a bummer though.

It was nice to see that stretch where we dominated the match. Hopefully more of that to come in the future.

Agree on both counts. And if you just look at the score of our losses it is encouraging - we won the matches we were supposed to win and kept the losses close against highly ranked guys. It is losing the end of periods that stings. But we showed we can compete with anybody. Mayfield, Molina, Moreno, and Shafer all did better than past results would have indicated. With Gibson we win this 18-16 even with those late letdowns.

The schedule lightens up for a bit now. If we wrestle like this the next few weeks it'll give us a decent dual record and a chunk of NCAA qualifiers.

Well we had some encouraging results tonight. To win the upset matches you have to first be able to keep them close. We did so tonight and hopefully can make that next step sooner rather than later.

    Re: ***Oklahoma Preview/Predictions/Results(1/5 in Norman)***

Tonight was the first time I got to see this year's team in action and it really seems like we are heading in the right direction. We should qualify a few weights for the ncaa's IMO. I didn't get to see the 141, 149 or 157 matches, but i believe we lost all three matches by close decisions..I love the pace Tanner Weatherman wrestled at-kept attacking and looking to score. England looked a bit winded towards the end of his match and I was hoping he would have gutted out a major, but nonetheless it was a good match for Mikey. The Gadson match went as I expected. Tyler Swope!!!!! Bummer to go down in the closing seconds, but in his defense he appeared to have wrestled a more experienced and larger kid in Keldrick Hall. Hall actually beat Gadson at 197 last year so it's promising to see a redshirt freshman go out there and have that kind of an outing. I was a little suprised with 125 I anticipated more shots out of Finch, but he got the dubya. John Meeks.....Is there any speculation as to what happened with the knee? Has it been hurt before or wasn't it a factor in determing the loss? Either way, he wrestled a top ten kid and before the injury timeout, he looked game..!! I'm not sure what OU's rank was, but a good outing for the clones!

Cole Shafer wrestled HWT tonight, not Swope.

Looking through the play by play the number of takedowns appears to be a big improvement.
