A couple of thoughts about the liberty bowl

Everyone was very friendly and seemed appreciative of the isu fan turnout.

The crime thing was blown way out of proportion considering where everyone was staying.

Something needs to be done about the exit strategy at Isu. It often takes over an hour to get out of Ames. It took like 5 minutes to leave this stadium.

    Excellent food.

After 3 bad experiences in a row, I will never do any kind of pre game type tailgate. The only way it could have been worse is if they would have ran out of beer. They limited the number of tickets and they knew how many people would show but they still find a way to run out of food? What food they did have a terrible and I wasn't expecting a lot.

We too were able to get out very quickly.

There were no parking attendants when we arrived, and I think we parked in a spot we weren't supposed to, but we were less than 100 yards from the stadium. By a grassy area and it worked out great.

Not hard for us to get out either. Never mind we left early in the 4th. I thought Memphis was ill prepared for the total turn out as evidenced by multiple Beale area restaurants being under staffed, we sat on the Tulsa side, not the friendliest bunch but overall we had a decent time, 6-7 hurts but 5-7 would have been worse.

Very unique stadium to be at. Helluva nice scoreboard, not bad lines for the men's rooms, great beer vendors, and a really good sounding announcer.

I would like this to be a big 12 bowl.... Historical and overall awesome. Waaaayyyyyy better than pinstripe and Houston.

The concession stands were an atrocity. Poor selection, and they ran out of what they did have. Great bowl, however, though. I hope the big 12 can get this as a permanent bowl.

Need twice as many portapotties for tailgating and they need to cancel the rain, otherwise it was pretty sweet. I liked Tempe better, though

Re: A couple of thoughts about the liberty bowl

Agree on port-a-potties. Definitely needed more. The staffing was poor on Beale during the parade. Hard Rock had one bar tender working; didn't even have a manager assisting or anything.

The announcer was driving us all nuts. He kept adding an "ah" sound to the end of many words. Like "First down Hurricanes-ah!"

Even if they did have staff.. With the amount of people in the bars it would be almost impossible for them to move around.

Re: A couple of thoughts about the liberty bowl

No one from memphis expected a 6-6 team to bring 25k+ people. they likely thought we would have a turnout similar to tulsa's, or maybe a bit more, but not what we brought. thus the understaffing, lack of portos, buffet issues, etc.

we should be very proud of our fan base right now.

Re: A couple of thoughts about the liberty bowl

If you didn't find your way into the Juke Joint on any night there, then you missed some of the best bands in one of the best blues venues anywhere. It is small, and you will walk right by it and not know its there, and it is attached to a bigger bar with a bigger stage and you might not even know its there if you are in the bigger bar. But, we went to most of the bars and this place was KILLING it. Brandon Santini tours through Iowa and I will definitely be checking that out, but it won't be the same without "all this" that goes into that place.

the dudes from "the secret order of the bull weevil" in their guile suits and creepster masks, freak dancing fat chicks in far too tight of clothes on top of their party bus was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Re: A couple of thoughts about the liberty bowl

Memphis was nuts. I've still at the Hilton in South Haven. I didn't realize that Cyclone Fanatic was here until this morning when a staffer said "Your bus already left!" and I said "Huh?" and she goes "Ain't you with Cyclone Fanatic?" And I go "WHAT!? Cyclone Fanatic was HERE!?"

Trip was great. Food was great. People were great.

Go the caterers website and see why the food was not so good and perhaps how they could run out....there were many other options for caterers...
