Sounds like one of those games that would be agonizing to watch on TV (and probably worse in person).

Glad we won, but also glad I didn't watch it so I could spare myself a potential ulcer. If nothing else maybe it can be labeled as a "character building" type of win.

Lucious with 5 assist and 1 turnover. I thought he played a solid game today.

I recall everyone saying the same thing after the MVSU game last year. Royce does not sweat and Scotty sucks at point. Hindsight is 20/20. Let's just see what happens, at least we did not lose this one. A win is a win at the end of the day and the season.

Get use to Johnny Orr defensive efforts. For the most part, win at home (except KU) lose on the road (except possibly TT and TCU). 10-8 in conference. May take a win or two in the Sprint Center to make the dance.

    Hoiberg press conference.

He's pretty ******...don't blame him. Says ISU will be done if they play like that the rest of the season.

ISU scored 36 points in the last 11 minutes of the game. That pace for an entire game would amount to about 130 points.

Hoiberg must not feel he's ready for prime time. I'm guessing at least one of this year's guards will transfer with all of the talent we have coming in.

Monte, Matt Thomas, Custer and Jones

Naz will probably find some time because he can play a little at both guard spots. SDW may surprise people if he can gain some strength/size. Not sure I see Okoro or SDW being more than back ups though.

The thing is, almost up until this time last year those things were true, and at the time I don't think the team had much of an identity. The corner we turned in January last year was pretty remarkable, especially on the defensive end of the court. It seemed like we just floated through non conference play last year and woke up when conference play started. That's why I'm not sure what to expect the rest of the year, like you said we won, when it comes down to it we're not in any worse place than we were when big 12 play started last year. We didn't know exactly what kind of team we had then, I don't think we do yet this year either. I think we still have reason to be optimistic.

I thought I covered this in the pre-game meltdown thread, because well, here we are.

That often makes me wonder, why can't a team approach that level of production for the full 40?

I'd never expect a 130-point scoring pace, but what keeps a team from tapping into that 3-points-per-minute mode more frequently?

What I've heard from other posters is that Fred doesn't play him much because of his weak defense. That's funny, because our starting point guard is not a good defender, either. Lucious is good at getting up in a shooter's face but opponents just dribble past him.

I wish this team played with more emotion and enthusiasm. I'm envious how hard the squawks are playing. I haven't caught a game where it looks like our players give a ****.

As the first reply in this thread, I posted a picture of a yawn. It was deleted. Why, I don't know.
