Things to do on way to Memphis?

Taking our time driving down with a 4 and 6 year old this weekend. Any suggestions of things to do to break up the drive that are close to the route.
Thinking about taking a couple hours at the St Louis Science Center. Any other suggestions?

You could stop in Hannibal, MO and get your Mark Twain on.

I heard on Murph and Andy that the throwed rolls in Sikeston, MO is a spot to see. Never been there myself.

Also, it may be a good time to knock East St. Louis off the bucket list. Nobody likes to shoot each other in the cold.

Stop in Sikeston, MO at Lamberts...Home of the Throw'd Rolls

    DELICIOUS!

I'd have lots things to take with (CD's, books, movies...) you, especially is you are taking family, because the drive once you get past Cape Girardeau all the way to Memphis is absolutely BORING!!! Made the trip a ton of times on my way to Baton Rouge with and without family...so this is totally from experience

Another vote for Lambert's in Sikeston, Missouri. The place is awesome for kids (has an arcade inside as well as lots of stuff going on). Great food and an even better atmosphere. There isn't much past St. Louis (as it is a fairly boring drive), but Sikeston also has an outlet mall in addition to Lambert's.

If you are planning an STL stop and want the kids to run off some of thier car cabin fever, I HIGHLY recommend The City Museum

it is hard to describe, but basically is a 4 story old abandoned warehouse that they have convertd into a gigantic indoor jungle gym. Tunnels, mazes, and slides. It is an all time favorite attraction of my 11 and 9 year old daughters, and the kids can run for the entire time you stop.

city museum | where the imagination runs wild!

yours are a little young to appreciate the connection to the books, but The Mark Twain cave in Hannibal was also a hit with my girls. But they both Read Tom Swayer before our vacation last summer.

These days, just turn on some video device. Our trips are becoming more and more like sitting around the family room at home.

We've got those too but I'm trying to avoid that.

I went there for a family vacation while I was in high school. I teach English, teach his books and short stories, but that was the worst thing ever. That trip was just chock full of me hating that man for being famous. I still hold a grudge to this day, and even when I teach his books anymore, I at times have to stop reading them with the class because they are so goddamned boring.

Hey! Let's modernize Huck Finn. Let's make it a story about driving a car through Nebraska. That would be about as exciting.
