What Happened To Our DBs ?

Seemed like our 2nd string DBs played most of the game. Of our normal starters Bell and James Smith had 3 tackles each, Singleton had no tackles and Brown didn't play.

Hunley had 9, Berg 8, S. Johnson 5 and McDowell 2 tackles. Didn't hear if some of the starters were were injured or what.

Yeah. We are so thin at DB, I cant wait till he brings in some quality DBs to work with.

Bell and McDowell have bright futures, but we need depth and safeties.

I was thinking the same thing as I was watching. It seemed like McDowell, Hunley, and Berg played a majority of the game rather than Smith, Singleton, and Brown. Berg is horrendous, so I don't know whether Brown was injured or what.

Brown had been playing well lately.

Re: What Happened To Our DBs ?

I think we went into the Colorado game with only 3 healthy Corners and Bell got hurt during that game. He came out for the 2nd half with a heavily taped ankle. We don't have a pass rush. That puts a lot of pressure on our LBs to cover the whole field and make plays. Hopefully, we can get help next year so this doesn't happen again.

I wish Caleb the best in life, but I'm glad I'll never see him in our defensive backfield again.

Is Carper done for good? It would be awesome to get him back next year.

I've heard that Carper is hoping to be ready to go next Fall and that it is pretty unlikely he will be able to do much in the spring. We will definetly need him next year and hopefully he can get back to full speed.

That's such a sad sitch. IDK if Carper will EVER be the same on the field, but I pray to god I am wrong, he was a speedy high jumping cover LB who could make plays. That injury couldn't have happened to a better guy too. I really, really hope he sees the field a lot next year and is back to his old form.

We really have to upgrade our speed in the secondary...KU had guys running free all day long.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Caleb was our best hitter in the secondary though. I think he's the one that knocked Sharp backwards yesterday... hardest hit of the day. Our other guys are going to need to get stronger so they're not afraid to hit guys next year. It looked like they didn't want to have anything to do with McAnderson.

I agree with this statement completely...Ever since he became a starter in the Dan Mac era I have seen this guy too many times get burned. Yes he is a big hitter some times, but if you cant make plays a big hit on a guy after he gains 20 yards doesnt really mean much.

Hopefully Dustin Land will be smart/mature/talented enough to come in and compete for a Safety job right away next year.
