Can I get some good old fashioned TV?

CycloneTV has really been hindering my love of ISU hoops. I have been able to watch one game this year! I will not subscribe to CycloneTV because I have a limited amount of data to use. So I have seen the Iowa game and that is it. I think there was another game on MC 22 but that is like watching a game on MC 22. I want to see some freeking Clone hoops!!!! And I can't!!!! Anyone else with me on this??

I think it's inexcusable that more games aren't at least televised in the state of Iowa. You'll never attract casual fans if they can't watch them play. No casual fans are going to subscribe to a service in order to watch a jumpy internet feed.

Conference season will have your regular ESPN/ESPNU/ABC games. Next season Mediacom will have rebroadcast rights to the Cyclones.TV feed for non-conference games.

It's not jumpy for everyone and the subscriber base disagrees with "not going to subscribe".

So this means it will be a broadcast the next day?

Sorry I wasn't clear. It will be co-broadcast LIVE. Cyclone.TV for those that want an online feed and MC22 (until dedicated channel is formed) on Mediacom for those that want regular TV.

Mediacom is going to have a dedicated Cyclones network that will most of the same events, live, that Cyclones.tv does. Right now they're using MC22 as an intermediate step in that direction.

By the way, tonight's game was available on TV. Just not in Iowa, because ISU didn't have the broadcast rights. They were very lucky to get the rights to air it on Cyclones.tv. That right there would not have been possible before.

Re: Can I get some good old fashioned TV?

    Here's the details:

Iowa State, Mediacom Offer Cyclones.tv Channel - Iowa State University Athletics Official Web Site - www.CYCLONES.com - The home of Iowa State Cyclone Sports

Regular TV on Mediacom will be in standard def. for a while. Cyclones.TV will remain an HD broadcast for ISU produced content.

I agree you'll never attract the casual fans if they can't watch and in some cases with games not on t.v. it can lead to apathy especially in a down year.

What about the non-casual fans that don't live in Iowa that are actually willing to pay to watch ISU? Seems like ISU is getting more money that way than catering to casual fans that actually live in Iowa that don't go to games and maybe will watch a game if it's on TV (that they don't get much money from selling rights for).

Edit: Anyway, this is all pointless now since ISU-MCC deal.

Re: Can I get some good old fashioned TV?

Thanks for the responses. We're in somewhat of a 'transition' stage between TV and internet broadcasting, apparently. It is frustrating when this coincides with the Clones becoming hoops relevent again! Can't wait to actually see some of these guys!

You have limited data? Did you just step out of a time machine from 1996?

Get better Internet service. Cyclone TV has allowed me to see lots of events I normally would miss. It's great insurance for bad weather too.

The subscriber base is still only just over half the capacity of Hilton Coliseum. What are all those other people doing for the away games? Listening on the radio....maybe. The mid-season agreement with Mediacom shows that the athletic department knows they've hosed this up.

Do you have a link/source for that information?
