A little nit-picky here but they mention he gained 81 lbs in one year when really they were talking about high school to his sophomore year. I'm sure they just condensed for dramatic effect but get the facts right if you're going to imply what they are implying.

They also said Lamaak gained a lot of "non-lean" weight, which is why his weight gain didn't get him flagged for testing.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.

I didn't know if anyone doing steroids when I was playing, but I used creatine and I swear by that stuff. No way I could have gained the lean muscle mass I did without creatine.

Creatine isn't a banned steroid though. Schools aren't allowed to provide it directly to players but it is 100% legal.

While not a football player, when I was lifting there was nothing better than the creatine pump!

Lamaak was listed at 265 in his Rivals profile. Remembering his highlight tapes, that is much more believeable than him being 225.

Re: Steroids in college football - ISU mention

    What a ridiculous article.

"Yet the NCAA has never studied weight gain or considered it in regard to its steroid testing policies, said Mary Wilfert, the NCAA's associate director of health and safety. She would not speculate on the cause of such rapid weight gain."

Yeah, they're 18-22 year old kids. Of course their bodies are still developing. Couple that with being in a D-1 weight room with a professional trainer year-round and you're going to see some people gain weight. Hell, receivers gain a lot of weight from when they walk onto campus to their second year.

I know that was my point. You can take other legal supplements and put on good weight, just because someone puts on a lot of good weight doesn't mean steroids were involved.

If you take away first base, they'll just go find a new ballpark to play in.

By bringing up the questions they are putting doubt into everyone's mind about the whole topic. The author seems to have an axe to grind for some reason. Ben was legit to all of us but the layout of the article to me paints him in a negative light. Sure he is rebuking the whole weight gain topic but they mislead with wrong information and plant the seed of doubt.

Re: Steroids in college football - ISU mention

HGH is more of an issue... Healthier, but making NFL players play forever and heals them quickly... add the roids making them bigger and faster is far more of an issue with injuries then kick offs!

My fix for NFL injuries is make weight limits at each position... Game stays the same, players are healthier, and less likely to kill someone.
