    Tomorrow...

Tonight - I am going to pray a little harder. I am going to chill with the little guys and spoil them with hot chocolate and popcorn with M&M's. Then probably pray again.

Tomorrow - the world will erupt with talks of gun laws, metal detectors, giving teachers ninja lessons.... everyone will have a voice and will want it heard- and it will be broadcasted. It will drown out everything else.

Tomorrow - parents are going to think twice about what video game their child is playing or what they are watching on tv.... or who they hang around with. Maybe a parent starts asking questions.

Here is what else happened today:

Someone donated blood and saved 3 lives

I walked into my community's 'Love Tree' project and saw rooms full of donations to fullfill the wishlists for children that simply ask for clothes and toiletries.... and they got a heck of a lot more. (this is small town Iowa btw). I wanted to cry with pride at the sight.

Donorschoose.org has raised $43 M YTD vs $34.4M last year via 1,004,409 people which helps teachers with projects in schools.

This is an amazing place. The good outweighs the evil. I believe if we talk more about the good, it does triumph.

Tomorrow - I am going to sign up for two spring sessions as a 'Watch Dog Dad' (look it up...)

What are you going to do tomorrow...or the next day?

    Many will do the same.

Unfortunately by Tuesday 99% will go back to thinking that will never happen to me and go back to business as usual.

That is a sad truth. On a much smaller scale, I had one friend due and three more are due Mid January when Doria died. I keep praying that it won't happen to them.

My heart aches for the parents and families, badly, and those who were hurt by this should not be put off, but...

Its called coping process. Hopefully the families will be able to get to this point. Horror and terror and hell yes I cried a a little today and cant do much but stare at my children tonight. Tomorrow I will hope the world still will be fine and will try not, no REFUSE, to live my life in total fear of every ******* that walks my Earth.

Like it or not 99% of the people (victims included) hope to get back to this point.

Fear won't be the problem for those families. That won't be a lasting thing.

The loss is what lasts. Every Christmas, as long as they live, they will have that empty spot under the Christmas tree. All those birthday celebrations that their dead children don't have, and the anniversary of today will tear at them until their last days. That's just how it works. In a real way, they'll never see life the way they did before today, because it's different now.

I couldn't agree with this any more. Very well said. As if losing a family member so tragically isn't enough despair to imagine, dealing with the pain may continue to leave these families in a fragile condition. Unfortunately, each person will cope differently, and these differences and the challenge of maintaining a family dynamic though these unfortunate circumstances can harm relationships between siblings, parents/children, and spouses. This is the reason that I will pray even harder for the famillies as I will for the precious victims of this unspeakable tragedy.

    Re: Tomorrow...

The parents will suffer again from their loss when they finally go home and see the Christmas presents for their kids under the tree and the knowledge that they will never be opened!
No magic wand to be waved and no words that can take away the pain and no rewind button to take away the loss!
    Sad!

What is the other option? Live in fear of random violence and lock you kids up? I will be back to business as usual and I won't apologize for it.

That's not at all what I meant. My kids are out today and I don't plan to change anything related to them. OPs post was about getting involved in things to make your community better. Giving blood, donating to children in need etc. My point was every talks about doing stuff like this after a tragedy and some even doing something. Very few sustain it for very long at all.

Yeah, you cannot direct the masses. But you know..... If you only try to be 1% better...... Do 1% more.... It adds up. I love to hear ideas from my cyclone friends.....cleaning the cemetery....Harley ride for toys for tots..... If anyone has other efforts, I may want to steal it with pride!
