He was talking about this possibility when he was still in Des Moines.

Re: Matt Perrault Wetting His Pants

They are a good Mid-Major program both now and historically. You occasionally see these teams do well in the tourney (ie UNI vs KU) because they keep kids till their senior year and the players are 100% bought into the system.

Every once in a while they get a kid that could start at any school (Dougy fresh for example) No way they consistenly out recruit a B1G, B12 schools that are RELEVANT.

Meaning if ISU continues to have success and hopefully continues to improve which would mean continous NCAA tourney bids and some deep runs there is no way overall that the Bluejays out recruit across the board. Will they occasionally hit on a guy here or there, sure not consistently.

If you were 17, potentially talented enough to end up in the NBA and being recruited by ISU, Iowa and Creighton which of the 3 would you be least likely to pick? Exposure is much greater in B12 & B1G and lets be honest Greg's offense and his history with developing talent isnt exactly "exciting"

“It’s beyond pride. It’s a restored trust. There’s a confidence again, a passion that teeters on swagger. More than anything, (Iowa State head coach Paul Rhoads) has restored the Iowa State “it” factor, the steadfast belief that it is great to be a Cyclone...the man’s enthusiasm is genuine to the core...”

Creighton can go to the Big East all it wants. That league is on it's last breath.

Going to join the Catholic 7 in their new league? That's something else....

If Creighton were to be in this new "Catholic" they would no longer fall under the category of a mid major league. With that list of potential teams in a conference, make no mistake, that would qualify as a major conference, and on some years that conference could be better than the Big 12.

My only question is what is that new league called? Assuming 8 teams to start... is it The Holy Octet? The Jesuit Octagon?

McDermott doesn't have a great record in a bcs league with bcs talent. Many believe it is a fatal flaw in his coaching philosophy that Will prevent him from success beyond midmajor level.

Re: Matt Perrault Wetting His Pants

Hope he realizes they will go from top of the league to the very bottom. McDermott has already proved once that he can't compete with the big boys both on the hardwood and on the recruiting trail.
