    ***NDSU Preview/Predictions/Results*** (12/16 at Hilton)

Its just about time for our last home meet of 2012. We'll be up against the #21 North Dakota State Bison. Its put up or shut up time for the team. Either we get a win to put the season back on track or we get another performance like we had against Old Dominion and the season plunges off the edge.

    +--------+-------------------+------+--------+----------+-----+---------------------+------+--------+----------+
    Weight by weight looks:

125: A bad matchup for Finch to try to get himself to where he should be. Sprenkle was one win short of All American status last year and has been on a tear so far, including a 4-3 win over then #5 David Thorn of Minnesota. I don't see a win in the cards here.

133: Meeks against another true freshman stud. Rodriguez was a freestyle national champ last year and a runner up in California. If Meeks is really a kid who didn't need a redshirt he has to win this one and there is no reason for him not to bring away a W.

141: Just like Finch (and the team), Goettl needs to get it together to prevent his season from spiraling out of control. However, unlike Finch he gets a favorable matchup against an opponent who should be overmatched. I'd like to see Goettl win by major to give me some confidence that he isn't regressing this year.

149: This depends a lot on whether Max Mayfield is back or not. If Max takes the mat I think it is a tossup that he can win, Garner doesn't have any good wins and has a few bad losses. If it is Luke Swalla I just hope he can keep it to a decision.

157: I really like Molina's effort and he will be getting a chance to prove himself against a decent wrestler. Zellmer has a win in OT over #18 Ivanov of Boise State but also has some losses to unranked guys. Zellmer seems to keep things close so I don't expect a major here, but a win would be a nice step for Molina going into the break.

165: Moreno just upset a #5 ranked wrestler last week... so why not do it again? Honestly I don't expect a win here. Moreno has improved a lot from last year and has been our most consistent wrestler so far this year, but I don't think he is at the level yet where he can beat elite guys consistently. I'd love for him to prove me wrong though!

174: Not a whole lot to say here. Julson is nothing to write home about but neither Tanner nor Mikey has proven much so far this season. Toss up.

184: This should be the premier match of the dual. Two NCAA qualifiers that are right next to each other in the rankings. This would be a solid win for Beard to build off of after his perfomance against Iowa.

197: Most of Kleinshmidt's losses have been to ranked guys so he is probably better than you'd think at 4-5. But unless Gadson's shoulder was actually injured last weekend I see him coming away with another win. He's been looking better with every match so far.

HWT: Similar to Kleinshmidt, Knutson's losses have been mainly to ranked guys so it is tough to know where he is really at, but there's no reason for Gibson to ever be in danger here.

I'm thinking worst case a 18-17 win, likely case around 22-10, and best case 25-7. Or more if we get on a roll with bonus points. If we lose for any reason other than the whole team being sick with the flu or something then the sky is officially falling and the season is pretty much a loss. This is a better team than Old Dominion though and a solid win would give us some footing for Midlands and the conference season.

Re: ***NDSU Preview/Predictions/Results*** (12/16 at Hilton)

NDSU is a hard team to judge right now. We know Monk and Sprenkle are good and Stoll is pretty good. Just not sure on the rest of the team, but I think that Coach Kish, Glasser, Rivera (All Minnesota Gopher products) will have them fired up and ready to wrestle Sunday.

I think we will be ready for the challenge and will change our momentum!!!

Re: ***NDSU Preview/Predictions/Results*** (12/16 at Hilton)

I am hoping for a good showing this weekend. It was nice to have some positive results at the UNI open and would like to build momentum. I wish we had more there last weekend as I think it was beneficial for those that did.

125: Sprenkle is good and Finch has not looked good so far. Hope he is competitive. Sprenkle by decision.
    0-3

133: I look for Meeks to get back in the win column. Meeks by decision.
    3-3

141: It would be nice to put some good offense together and to get a major. I will wait until I see it, but do think he wins the match. LG by decision.
    6-3

149: I don't know what Mayfield's status is and until I see him on the mat, I will assume Swalla will be our guy. Hope for it to be held to a decision. Garner by decision.
    6-6

157: I think this should be a close match. Toss up, but I will give this one to Zellmer. Zellmer by decision.
    6-9

165: Obviously MM had a great UNI open. Would be awesome for him to put back to back wins against Polz and Monk. I think it will be a good match, but think Monk wins by decision.
    6-12

174: I haven't been blown away by either Mikey or Tanner. Whoever goes, I look for improvement and a win by decision.
    9-12

184: This is the type of match Beard needs to win. I think he is much better than his ranking so this is obviously a big one. Beard by decision.
    12-12

197: Hope his shoulder is fine. He will continue to get better every match. KG by decision.
    15-12

HWT: Knudtson wrestled respectable matches against Nelson and Hanke. Gibson needs to get his offense go and not let this be a one td match. Gibson by decision.

18-12 ISU win. I guess I don't see any bonus matches. I hope Swalla (if he is the guy) can hold his match to a decision. It would be nice to win some matches by bonus. Hope to see some more up tempo matches and an ISU victory!

Yeah, they've cleaned up against lower tier competition and done pretty decently against some pretty good teams. But as a whole I think our depth is better than their depth and we win this one even though they have a pair of horses at 125 and 165. There are lots of toss ups and we have to be the team to win most of them.

I don't have a lot of confidence that the ISU boys will win this. NDSU won 4 out of 10 matches against Minnesota. Sorry just being realistic.

2 of their wins were because Chris Dardanes and Dylan Ness were out

I really hope they can win this weekend. The wrestling team needs some good news for once.

I hope I am wrong. But the way the ISU kids have wrestled so far hasn't given me a reason to believe otherwise.

In Monday's press conference Jackson said that Mayfield has been cleared to wrestle but he wasn't sure if he'd be ready for competition by Saturday.

Where would you like to start the meet?
    Options:
165 and start with Moreno and Monk
174 and end with Moreno and Monk
125 might be good for Moreno and Beard's matches
157 would be good for Max, if he is borderline ready - could weigh in Luke Swalla and Max and wrestle Max if we need the win

I think they will win it by 1 or 2 points. But a win is a win and I'll take it.
