    Conference Realignment(Iowa HS version)

For those that care there is talk of the North Central Conference disbanding as Bishop Garrigan and Eagle Grove are petitioning to join the North Iowa Conf. Also, it sounds as if Clarion-Goldfield is looking into it as well. From what else I have heard the NIC and CornBelt are looking to make a "super-conference" of around 18-20 schools. Just thought I would pass it along.

    NOOOOO!!!!

I grew up in the North Central Conference. Lots of wrestling history there. Why would they do such a thing?

Currently have a son, whose a senior, in the North Iowa Conference and was happy to see a few teams coming into conference. Heard Bishop Garrigan but not Eagle Grove. Heard it was going to be North Union.

Man, this is big time if it's making the news out in Scottsdale!

Grew up in the NCC as well. EG had a meeting last night and CG is Christian Pondering the idea.

    Re: Conference Realignment(Iowa HS version)

Trips to Iowa Falls and Hampton from Algona sucked. Was always jealous that Eagle Grove and Clarion-Goldfield had pretty slick traveling schedules. Having to go to Iowa Falls back to back nights when I was a junior or senior for a baseball game sucked the big one.

One would think losing Bishop Garrigan and Eagle Grove wouldn't be a big deal. Would be interesting to see where Webster City, Algona, Humboldt, Clear Lake, St. Ed's, Clarion-Goldfield, Hampton-Dumont, and Iowa Falls-Alden end up provided Eagle Grove and Bishop Garrigan leave for the NIC.

    Re: Conference Realignment(Iowa HS version)

CB St. Albert is officially joining the Hawkeye 10 next school year I believe. Unless they moved up a class since I was in high school they will be the only 1A school in a mostly 3A conference.

I am sorry but if the Dude isn't reporting it on Twitter than there is no validity to what you were told

i believe at least atlantic got moved down to 2A in some sports already and i'm guessing the other schools have been trending down too so it might not be too big of a strech for them

It's no big loss to the conference if EG bolts. EG doesn't have anything going for it other than Hank's Place and Dirk Helmick.

This is odd. I really don't care about Eagle Grove at all, but I'm surprised Clarion is thinking about this.

They all are smaller schools moving to a conference that is more primarily 1A & 2A schools rather than 3A schools.

You would've complained a lot more if you'd been in a non Des Moines 4A school district. Fort Dodge to Council Bluffs or Sioux City were long trips.
