    Already thinking about next year!!

I am so impressed with this program and with this team. We are going to really miss our seniors, but we have some very good FR, SO and JR to carry things on. Having Hahn back will be huge, as she can settle the team down with her steady, steady play.

I will really miss Straube, because of her hitting and her blocking - her offense and her defense. She was so strong in the middle. But I saw some nice results from Matlock when Straube was hurt, and Matlock is still improving every year.

Hockaday will really be missed, especially on defense. To me, she gets the heart of the team award, for coming back from the injury the way she did. Lesser people would crumble because it was a long hard slug, but she really showed what she is made up.

I will go out on a limb and say we will miss Landwehr the most. Even when our passing was irratic, Landwehr did a really superior job. This position is so key - but then, many were suspicious when Mann graduated and Landwehr came up. Look at what she has done to fill those big shoes!!

My biggest accolade, and our biggest returning "player" is CJL. I am so impressed with her ability to recruit, her ability to prepare and motivate players and her ability to coach during the game. She blew me away with her non B12 schedule this year; this woman was not going to settle for status quo; she was going to go for it.

I can hardly wait for next year - and will double my season tickets purchase, maybe more. This coach and this team and this program deserve it. I hope others will follow......

Yes. Agree and anxious to see the younger players keep making an impact. It will be interested to see how CJL will handle the setters for next spring. Maybe trying a 6/2 in exhibition season before committing to it 100% in the fall.

Agree with Cysclone 51 and anxious to see how the younger players contribute next year. Wonder if CJL will try to run a 6/2 in the spring before maybe going with it in the fall.

Do many collegiate teams run a 6-2? err...let me rephrase that...do many good collegiate teams run a 6-2?

Straube has always been a neat tie to our own time in Tecumseh, NE. It'll be strange going to matches without seeing her play, but that's college sports.

I think we'll be very good. I'm confident with that. I hope some of the challenging teams that we like to take on in the non-conference season come to Hilton this year.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: Already thinking about next year!!

This year Florida State and UNC ran a 6-2. Stanford ran a 6-2 for part of the year. Florida State, Stanford, Minnesota, USC, Nebraska, Florida have ran 6-2's in the past.

A 6-2 hasn't won a championship in 10 years. I think Hurtt would struggle in a 6-2. She needs a consistent set otherwise she's dumping. I also don't think ISU wants to lose Malloy's back row attack.

I could see some sort of modified 6-2. Run 6-2 in serve-receive, then 5-1 in transition. I don't know, but I'm sure Christy does, lol...

I am excited about Malloy and Bigbee to continue developing/improving their passing/defense and blocking. If they could become steady 6 rotation players, oh my...(they are most certainly athletic enough) Back row attack, that's where its at:)

Amen to that about Malloy and Bigbee. I also look forward to Knuth who saw more action towards the end of the season, plus some of the other recruits. I is sad to see the seniors leave, but oh so exciting to see the other step up

and that's exactly what we want! I've said it for a while - part of becoming a great, rather than good, program is being able to consistently replace the great players you are graduating.

Very interested to see if we go to a 6-2 (how does that impact our subbing?), I can't wait to see what we look like in the spring, though that will be without the incoming freshman.

that means we'd effectively be running two setters who also have hitting duties. Did you get to see the UNC match at all? They were running this. Though they were both tall, blonde setters so it was hard to notice. We're guessing that in ISU's case, we'd run Malloy and Hudson in this.

Re: Already thinking about next year!!

6-2 means we have 2 setters on the floor, one in the back row one in the front row. The back row would be your setter giving you 3 attackers in the front row at all times.

5-1 means you have one setter on the court. When your setter rotates to the back row, you basically are running a 6-2. When your setter rotates to the front row you will only have 2 attackers in the front row.

~95% of college teams run a 5-1. So there is an advantage, you're running something different than other teams so it requires more prep by the other team.

I hope RS Fr Kurht becomes a star next year....and it sounds like either of the incoming Fr Outsides have a chance to play a big role next year, especially if we run a 6-2.
