    Militant Aetheism

Here is a link to a story about an aethiest group that is fighting to have memorials to Utah state troopers who have fallen in the line of duty removed. The memorials were funded by private citizens under the authority of state law.

I have had some good friends that were very non-religious, probably to the point of being agnostic. I'm sure they would find the actions of this group appalling.

Why are some aethists so angry and determined to sanatize the world of religion? Don't get me wrong, religion has CAUSED some great pain in the world in its history. But religion is a comfort and blessing to the majority of people in the world. Most religions of the world are very altruistic (my version of christianity is at least). Why do some people hate religion so much?

I don't believe that athiests have a monopoly on the only group that is hateful. In addition, I know that there are athiests that tolerate religious expression.

I really don't care what someone's faith is as long as it isn't harmful to others and there is respect for other beliefs.

I am an athiest that tolerates all religion. I have no issues with it at all. If they want to have a religious ceremony for a fallen soldier, I will not only support it, I will attend.

You're right. I neglected to mention the ACLU.
