    Positives from last night

I'm not trying to turn this into a moral victory thread, but there were some good things from the game last night.

    1. Niang looks good. If a couple more of his 3's fall down, then that games goes down to the last second.

    2. Even with Clyburn scoring 0 points, we were still in it til close to the end.

    3. We are a deep team, which will be very nice as we get late into the season. Our bench will keep us in a lot of games.

I hope that last night is a wake-up call for this team, much like Drake and UNI were for last years team. I still think we can finish in the top half of the Big 12 and be a tournament team. This team will get better as the season progresses

How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm once they've seen Carl Hungus?

If last night wasn't a wake up call for Booker, then there will never be one. That is a positive. Every game, every situation, you can turn into positive if you want to. You can do it the other way and turn life into a spiral disaster. This team has the parts it needs to be good. The fans have to help them become good by supporting them.

Even though we had 19 turnovers we were still in the game.

Rather lose to Iowa than a conference game

Exactly, non conference basketball is ok. All that matters to me is ISU doing well in the Big 12. Hopefully we dont look like that in conference when it matters.

Another positive: We don't have to look at Carver for 2 more years. My God, that place is ugly. It's a toilet bowl with an ugly floor. Somebody should tell them their parquet flooring style went out of date back in the 80's.

They don't have the benefit of having to replace it every time it sprinkles.

We really aren't that far away from being a pretty solid team. We have some depth and athleticism. We need better decision making and leadership. Primarily we need KL, WC and Booker to step up and play better ball.

    Re: Positives from last night

The biggest positive I took from last night is that we play in the Big 12. The conference is way down and these early, hard-fought losses are going to help identify areas to work on to be ready for conference play.

Playing in a weak conference is not a positive.

It should be able to get us our 21 wins to get into the Tourney. And YES you are making the Tourney if you win 21(11 conference wins) games in the Big 12. Doesn't matter if it's down or not.

Actually it does. Winning 11 conference games only matters if some of those wins are quality. If the conference is down, that limits the opportunities to get quality wins.
