He can't handle, drive, defend, or jump. He is about a half foot taller than the competition and has to resort to jump shots the whole game. There is a reason why the recruiting services, and college coaches stopped paying attention to him. And its not because he is back. Sorry.

Re: How concerned should we be?

I hope this rivalry stays healthy for years to come as having both programs consistently in the NCAA Tourney would be a great thing. We have some fresh talent coming in next season too so let's not get too concerned. We have 2 Top 100 recruits in Thomas and Morris as well as some serviceable JUCO bigmen. We do lose Lucious, Clyburn, Babb, McGee, and Booker but we do have Niang and a solid core of young talent coming back.

I think it's time to make the switch in the starting lineup with Gibson replacing Booker. Gibson is much more of a physical presence and active body in the paint. We need to keep finding big minutes for Niang too. If it were't for Ejim I'd start him as well but who would you bench because we need Babb's defense.

I wouldn't say that, it is high school. That is what you will get with the best player on the team in high school.

If being down 6 with 3 mins left is getting curb stomped by a team that just beat the #15 team in the nation and is undefeated, sure...

Re: How concerned should we be?

I thought Iowa might get the win — Iowa State hadn't won away from home nor beaten a high-quality opponent.

But I didn't expect ISU to get schooled for a majority of the game.

If Iowa finishes below top half of Big 10 and ISU doesn't improve: Not In Tournament.

I would say that neither team looked good though. People spent all off season taking the Hawks and now all of a sudden they're A "good team". You could call this a building year for both teams.

Re: How concerned should we be?

Here's what bothers me most about Hoiberg's ISU teams thus far... he said we were going to run, we were going to pressure, get turnovers, and fastbreak. We don't do any of that.

Iowa comes out and pressures us half the night, creates a ton of turnovers, fastbreaks on us, gets dunks on us, etc. And we walk the ball up and play half court uninspired ball all night long.

That is what frustrates me the most. Both Fred and Fran promised a high octane, fast paced style of ball, but only Fran has delivered that.

You have zero idea what you're talking about. He's shooting over 50% from the floor and 94% from the line. Additionally, his efficiency numbers are very good.

BTW, for those wondering what I might be worried about, I'm thinking long term. I DO NOT think a strong program in Iowa City is desirable.

Re: How concerned should we be?

    Very concerned.

oh, and no, Jok does not shoot the ball 50 times a game. Reports are that he is actually very unselfish and should take more shots than he does! Scary to think since he is averaging 27/game or so.

He can only score in one way. The jump shot. He can't drive, jump, and has no burst. He is a good pickup for Iowa because they need shooters, but he is going to be too big a defensive liability to be more than situational.

Have you not been paying attention this year? Or does Jok scoring 20, 30 and 32 points in his first three games not count as "exactly dominating?"
