Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I know this may be the kool aid talking but I think there is a 25% chance we win Saturday. I cannot imagine how hard it will be for KU to focus on ISU. This is a sandwich game for them. With Oregon loosing last night they are realisticaly the #2 tem in the BCS and therfore they are cursed. We've palyed well lately. To quote a wise man "Why not us?"

Yeah, but it was the same kind of feeling I had going into the Texas game. I'll wait and see... but over everything else, I'm anxious to finally see a road game on TV.

Bingo....people are getting the cart ahead of the horse. I hope we show up, but am very worried about a wide margin of victory for KU on nat'l TV.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I do if ISU plays ball control and 0-1 TO they will stay with and can beat KU. I still don't think KU is that good they have never really been pushed yet this year they have always been tied or ahead. If ISU can get a quick lead KU may not know how to react. Also Reesing really hasn't been hit this year if ISU can knock him around a little bit he may fold like McCoy did against KSU the last two years.

Wow! I love the Kool aide flavor being passed around here. Wish I could find a cup.

I keep having these flashes from a couple of weeks ago when someone put up 76 on Nebraska.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I did notice that last night during the end of the game last night, they were going over the remaining games for KU and that ISU was playing them on Saturday. This was the first set of announcers that thta did say "watch out for Iowa State". Hopefully we can get the big upset. Nothing would be greater than picking up a win in Lawrence over the "#2 two in the country". with the way we have been playing lately, I belive we can do it.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I'm not worried one bit. ISU is a completely different team than the one that got spanked by UT. I absolutely think that KU is looking directly past us and toward the Mizzou game and I give us a 50/50 chance of beating them. I can't wait to serve them some pay back for keepign us out of the Big 12 championship game a few years back.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I can tell you that here in KC, nobody is even talking about ISU and it's a foregone conclusion KU will be undefeated going into the MU/KU game.

Personally I'm not expecting a win, but there couldn't be a better time for us to play the #2 team in the country. We're on a roll, and have nothing to lose, we're being overlooked with KUs biggest game of the year next week, when in fact this is their biggest game of the year.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

Barring some sort of game-ending injury to Reesing, I'd give the Cyclones about a 10% chance to win this game. We have a very hard time getting pressure on the QB and are still letting opponents complete almost 70% of their passes against us.

Really our only hope is to not allow any big plays (especially for TDs) and to control the tempo with our running game. We're leading the conference in time of possession, but we're last in YPG and second to last in PPG. Obviously that means we're not doing much with the ball when we have it. If we can keep their offense on the sideline for the majority of the game, and end our drives with points and not punts or turnovers on downs, I think we can be competitive. Unfortunately, we haven't done that very much this year, which is why I don't think we have a very good chance to pull out the upset. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I'd feel better with the game if it were at home. KU has shown they don't blow people out on the road...KSU, CU, OSU. But they will blow teams out at home.

We've drastically improved since the start of the Big 12 season and I'm sure they know that. I look for us to keep it close similar to the Missouri game but we just aren't there yet to pull it out.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

I agree, don't know if i could put a percentage on it, but, we're playing a lot better especially on offense. Our defense will have to come out and play the game of their lives...especially when you consider for Banks, Bowen, Braaksma and Rubin its their last game in an ISU uniform, i think they will be fired up. Kansas, this is not their last game, not even the last game of the regular season....This could be a trap game, but, with the ducks loss last night, that just gives Mangino ammunition as to how they should not overlook the lowly clones.....that swirling bird may just gobble up toto and take away any chance we had at a national championship.

That said, realistically, this is not a good match up for us. IMO i think we will be able to contain - not control their running game which is very good avg 210 yds a game, ISU is avg 130 a game. KU defense is giving up 89 yds a game and were giving up 129 a game. The running game will be the key IMO. If we cannot contain their running game were done! If we can contain with our front 7, then we can try and match up out wide. They have big, physical receivers, and these guys have made plays all year. Additionally, KU's secondary is tight, they remind me of ours when we had Hobbs, Park, Jackon, Moser, etc etc....serious lock down corners and hitters at safety...does not bode well for our passing game.....If Alexander the Great can get off early and loosen up that D, this has been their strength all year. They've been able to stop the run and then on passing downs blitz and leave the corners on islands. If we get a running game started early, control the clock, take the crowd out of it, and then have quick hitters to the wideouts with 1-1 coverage, we can score some points and here's a prediction - Blythe has one of his signature highlight games, Mark my words 7 catches 160 yards 2 tds.

My concern is on D can we stop them....

    Final prediction - Yes i'm a homer.....

    ISU 31, KU 28

Thats it folks focus on recruiting now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

Let's just ride what we've got going. The spreads for the last four games have been against us and look what we have done to those. We're better now than all season and I'm putting our chances higher than 10% and even 25% (~40%) because I just believe, hope, and think that KU is bound to go down to ISU.

Re: Anyone else feel good about the KU game?

And the fact that Reesing hasn't thrown a pick in 5 games and KU hasn't turned the ball over as a team in 3 games speaks volumes to how well they play without making mistakes.
