Oregon loss should mean a Big 12 team in the Title game

Assuming OU doesn't lose this weekend to OSU and if we can't knock off KU, there will likely be a Big 12 team in the title game.

Will people keep saying the Pac-10 is better than the Big 12? If new rankings came out today, the Big 12 would have the #2, #3, and #4 spots in the BCS. If the SEC had their teams in those slots, the media would be falling all over themselves talking about how great the conference is.

Yet, it still doesn't seem like the Big 12 is getting much respect this year. Why?

Re: Oregon loss should mean a Big 12 team in the Title game

Well, outside of the top 3-4 teams in the conference, there's a bunch of blah teams, and then a few pretty bad ones (us included). Add to that, the only really "quality" non-conference wins are over the Big 10. Of course the Pac-10 only has a couple decent ones too, and one of those is over the Big 10.

I think at the end of the day, the Big 12 may come out of this year looking pretty damn good.

Well, they ARE technically the #2 BCS team now, aren't they? And we all know what the #2 BCS team has done all season...

Good point. 5 of them knocked off this year, let's make it 6!

I would think by the end of the weekend
the ranking would look something like this

    1. LSU
    2. OU
    3. Missouri
    4. West Virginia

    Am I forgetting anyone?

OU plays Tech this weekend at Tech, and than OSU next weekend in Norman. I think all three teams need to be very careful this weekend...

Tech might beat OU, and I think Missouri will beat Kansas - leaving big 12 teams out of national title.

As for Iowa State beating KU, I think it's very possible. We need to sack Reesing a few times, and defend their passing game. KU lives on their QB's ability to connect to their receivers. I'd say make them run and pay the price when hit'em hard.

well if mizzou beats ku then they would only need to beat ou to get to the title game. No way do they get jumped by another team without losing.

got to contain him. he is pretty good on the scramble and uses it to make plays both running and passing. I agree...make them one dimensional into a running team and we have them.

Looks like TT cannot beat very teams at this point. The Stoopsmeister will crank it up. The mananimal will watch from his house. The Pinkman will do the same. Stoops smells blood. He can be a national champion after the Boise State fiasco.

The problem is they have a better receiver than Bltyhe and a better running back than Robinson. They are a really good team.

If you have not seen them play this year, and you probably haven't since the big12 tv package is so bad, you will notice one thing right away. They are the fastest team ISU has faced this year, yes, I am including OU and Texas in that.

A receiver like Blythe can be as good as the quarterback makes him. I do not agree that there is a better receiver in Kansas. Blythe has been around forever.

I do not think any big 12 team will make it to the title game if OU loses the last two games and Texas ends up playing Missouri for conference title.

You just don't know this year how things will pan out.

    EDIT:

I just read what you wrote once again. You're right, if some big 12 team wins out the rest of the way, there's no stopping them from playing for the national title.
