    Re: Bielema to Arkansas

Ok, so with Bielema leaving and the NIU coach Doeren leaving, that is 2 BCS teams that will have interim head coaches for their bowl games.

Arguably they are two teams that don't really deserve BCS bids, but still. That's nuts. Getting to a BCS bowl should get you a raise, not get you to move to greener pastures.

    Re: Bielema to Arkansas

Okay so since 1992 when the SEC went to 12 There have only been 6 schools to win the conference.

    Florida 7
    Alabama 4
    Auburn 2
    Georgia 2
    LSU 4
    Tenn 2

Does Bielima really think he is going to break that strangle hold. Arkansas has won/tied for the west lead 4 times since joining in 1992 and lost all three times they have played in the conference championship game.

In the BIG in that time frame there have been 6 different champions, I eliminated ties by taking the highest ranked team at the end of the year.

    OSU 7
    Mich 5
    Illinois 1
    Northwestern 1
    Penn St 1
    Wisconsin 5

So we are really going to put Arkansas on the same level as Wisconsin, I understand the SEC is the power conference when it comes to football, but to say that they are better than a 5 time conference champ is pretty out there.

The potential might be greater, but the road is going to be a lot longer, and I don't think he will end up in a higher place.

Shocker, like the one you sign with your hand. Not sure how this will turn out for him, whatever as long as our head coach stays put I just do not really care. Malzahn to Auburn, good for him he will put the Chiz to shame.

Maybe he doesn't. Maybe he realizes Wisconsin fans have become spoiled with three straight Rose Bowl trips and will expect that every year now and with Urban Meyer in the same division, that task has become significantly harder. Here's a chance to leave on a (semi) high note, get a big raise and go to a program that won't expect him to win a conference title every year.

If you want to reach the pinnacle of coaching and win a national title, you do it in the SEC. That's been proven year after year for the better part of the decade and it's not changing anytime soon. Arkansas has more money, better facilities and better access to fertile recruiting ground.

    Re: Bielema to Arkansas

How would you say that Arkansas is a better job than OK State? OK State has the edge on facilities, and with T. Boone's bank roll they can throw a nearly unlimited supply of money at a coach. Plus, they play in Texas every single year, which helps with recruiting. Arky is there once every other year.

I really don't see a single advantage for Arkansas over OK State.

I don't think Rhoads goes to Wisconsin. We can pay him a lot of money, and that's a program that is going to struggle to compete for a conference title come next year. Its a program that has basically no chance of a national title either.
