    Jim Hendry Interview

Jim Hendry was on "Ump's Eye View" on KXNO. If you care, here is some of what he said:

He doesn't really support instant replay. It's a slippery slope toward machines calling balls and strikes.

Dempster is moving to the starting rotation.

They hope to sign Wood and use him at the back of the bullpen. Howry/Wood/Marmol are all potential closers.

May have to trade a starter to get some pieces. Rich Hill is not on the block.

Looking for a quality left-hand hitting right fielder through trades/free agency.

Pie and/or Fuld should be able to take care of center next year.

Sale of team does not factor into decisions. Sale unlikely to be complete by opening day.

Sota is going into camp as the number 1 catcher.

I assume if a starter is on the block, it's Sean Marshall.

I like what I am hearing about how the cubs are going about the offseason. I think they will get a couple key pieces, but not the huge names like last year. I hope that after next season I do not have to say wait til next year again.

I assume Marquis is on the block also but I don't think they will get much value for him. Maybe there is someone out there who needs to dump salary.

Thinking the same. Marquis came to mind, but wouldn't think anyone would take him.

The Cardinals need some pitching. Maybe we'll see a Marquis for Ankiel trade.

I doubt they can move Marquis... I'm not sure what his salary is but I think it is a little high to move after the season he had... unless the Cubs agree to pay part of it. I think they should hang on to him and see how he does next year.

I would also like to hold on to Marshall, but they do need a lefty bat now.
