im glad van de velde isnt our AD anymore

he tried to get too greedy and it prevented a 9-3 la tech team from going to a bowl. sucks for the kids and the school and hopefully he doesnt screw them over in the future. its also worth noting that ISU kicked la tech out of there potential spot in the liberty bowl

Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, 9-3, won't go to bowl game - ESPN

    He is an enormous moron.

SJ State who beat them wasn't in the most desirable of positions without having a bowl tie in either. Obviously they were smart enough to take whatever game was offered. I don't know how they could pass up a bowl invite there were only so many possibilities. They are a fun team to watch too.

He said in an interview last night that if the big 12 had 2bcs teams that the big 12 wouldn't be able to fill dallas And they could take it. Think about that.....

OP was kind of captain obvious there. lol But I don't blame you for mentioning it. It was pretty ridiculous. I wouldn't be at all surprised if SonnyDykes leaves even if it is for a slightly lesser program. I also definitely see Van de Velde getting fired, especially after Malone's comments.

I doubt he will be Louisiana Tech's AD for much no longer either with that kind of "leadership". Holy crap!

I saw this and uttered the same words most of you probably did... "Thank God he isn't here any more."

Wow... Just an epic failure on his part.

The "rumor" on the street is that if the Big 12 had gotten 2 into the BCS, the HOD Bowl would have negotiated with the Liberty Bowl to "trade" Iowa State out, sending us to Memphis so they could take Louisiana Tech. HOD Bowl becomes C-USA vs. Big Ten beginning next year, and LaTech is heading to C-USA, so maybe it makes sense. It would make a little more sense if UCF won the C-USA and went to the Liberty, at least on the ISU side.

I have no idea if this is true or not... just what the LaTech people claim to be true.

I sincerely doubt this is possible. If the HoD somehow broke their agreement with the BigXII and chose a WAC (C-USA) team over an eligible Big XII team the conference would break the bowl agreement and freeze them out forever.

The Big 12's relationship with the HOD Bowl is over after this year.

I also don't believe that this deal would have been possible without agreement from the Big 12 and the affected team (Iowa State)... I know that ISU was excited about Liberty Bowl as a possibility but am unsure if they would have agreed to the trade. Even if they were considering it, I imagine that the rematch with Tulsa would have stopped consideration.

This is conjecture... I don't have any facts other than ISU's previous interest in Liberty Bowl

I thought this thread looked familiar...

Frankly, I couldn't give a rat's puckered behind about Vendevelde--or any of his predecessors. I'm too busy being thrilled that we have Jamie Pollard.
