2013 Recruit Capezio POY Milwaukee JS

Despite injury and surgery Ciara Capezio's strong comeback this season has earned her SE Wisconsin Player of the Year. As a Minnesota decommit owning to a coaching change, Capezio is a very big late get for Iowa State's Volleyball future.

The 6-foot-3 senior outside hitter didn't just finish points, she seemed to knock a little air out of the volleyball with each kill. When she was on her game, it was a sight to see and in the 2012 season we saw a lot.

Displaying an added maturity to her play, Capezio increased her accuracy, kept her cool and was the hammer behind Burlington's second straight WIAA Division 1 state title. Her play earned her the distinction of Journal Sentinel area player of the year.

I didn't realize she is Joe's niece. Also, if she is spiking the ball as the caption with the picture says, she is left-handed. Will be nice to have another leftie along with Bigbee.

Capezio signed with Iowa State, a top program in the Big 12 that coincidentally is coached by Burlington co-coach Dan Lynch's sister-in-law, Christy Johnson-Lynch. Dan's brother, Joe, is a volunteer assistant with the program.

At the gym I train at in Burlington a woman approached me because I had on ISU gear and asked me if I went there because her daughter was going there next year. Wonder if that was hermom. Also of note Burlington has a men's volleyball team that was runner up at state, is the home town of Tony Romo, and is also the home town of Jodi Setyer. Lots of athletic talent in this area.
