    4 and 5 star recruits.

I see Campos (sp) just committed to ISU and I believe he's a 4 star recruit. I don't follow ISU recruiting very closely and I was just wondering how often does ISU get 4 stars? Does anyone know the recent history of landing 4 stars, also I know it's rare for a 5 star to go to any Iowa college. Who was the last 5 star to attend ISU? Any information is appreciated, thanks.

Re: 4 and 5 star recruits.

We get some 4 stars every once in awhile. Austin Arnaud (depending on the publication - some had him at 3) and Todd Blythe come to mind. Also, what's his name from Texas that we "stole" from the mason jars I believe was also a 4-star. So it's not unheard of that 4-stars come to ISU, but also it's not a regular thing. However, I'm not sure ISU has ever landed a 5-star - at least not in my recollection.

We had a 5 star a few years back didn't we? A safety, but he never actually made it to campus. Something like that I thought.

I sure don't remember that. I don't think we have ever had a 5 star even verbal. We probably average a 4 star once a year or so. Sedrick Johnson was a 4 star. Bo Williams was a 4 star. As someone else said so was the Youngs. Money was a 4 star. We tend to get quite a few that were 4 stars out of HS and then end up here in the form of JUCO or transfer, we don't very many right out of HS.

Maybe before stars, Chris Boskey was a huge recruit.

I read somewhere once that Rivlas changed their star ranking system around 2005, making it a lot harder to get 4-5 stars. This is also around the time when camps (Nike, UA, etc.) became a bigger thing making it more accessiable for recruiting services to see kids and rank them on an even scale rather than just watching game film. Not trying to take anything away from the 2002 class though

This was in the early 2000s I think, but it could just be someone we were after that became academically ineligible or just didn't get. Kind of hazy on it.

Is that the guy that ended up going to Minnesota over us? I vaguely remember that

You could be right. Since about 03/04 I know we haven't had anyone. We haven't had anyone sign LOI. I don't really know before about 03 if anyone may have verbal.

I think Jerry Moses might have been considered the #1 recruit in the nation when he came.

Wasn't Troy Davis a five star recruit?
