Ugly article on state of Minnesota football!!!! WOW

Wow did CBS ever put a beatdown on Minnesota and Tim Brewster....I'm glad ISU didnt get this coverage which normally we would have....But, don't look now CBS but just as you indicated in your story, Minnesota is putting together a very very good recruiting class - but then again so did Norte Dame and Miami and Iowa - they've all had top 30 recruiting classed recently and they all stink - thats coaching!!!!

My opinion, Brewster will be gone after next season. He's a phony who misleads his kids, fans and everyone else. I doubt he holds the recruits he has.

I doubt Minnesota pulls a Notre Dame. They'll give him more than 2 seasons before showing him the door.

I think it's unfair to judge him only after one season. As mentioned, he is putting together a good recruiting class, assuming he is able to hang on to them.

Hell not only is hanging on to them, he's getting them committing two at a time like he did last week. The ironic thing is you look at who he's recruiting against and he's going right after the big boys...I agree i think Tim Brewsters a first time head coach and it takes time....the other thing is he's changing from a power running game to a Texas Tech type offense, it will be fun to see those numbers against Big ten defenses....too funny....

I think he will succeed.....he's energetic and hungry...that translates into recruits....now, he maybe cutting the line very fine, but, he's trying to get players in there to implement his system and that may require a lil stretching of the truth to get that kid to committ....

No doubt glad we got Chiz, if he were still at Texas, i would figure he would be the #1 candidate for Nebraska....i hope they bring back Turner Gill, that will be a train wreck, mark my words....Last time i checked, buffalo's schedule didn't get them into the BCS....

I will agree that Minnesota needs to give Brewster some time to implement his system and recruit the players he wants into the program. However, if I were a Minnesota fan, I would be pretty frustrated with the athletic department right now. Mason went 64-57 (including a 56-40 record over his last 8 years) at Minnesota after his predecessor, Jim Wacker, went 16-41. Mason took the Gophers to 7 bowl games in his final 8 seasons. They weren't necessarily threatening to win the Big Ten title on a regular basis, but they were competitive.

Many Minnesota fans look at Mason's firing as a knee-jerk reaction by the athletic director after the Gopher's loss to Texas Tech in last year's Insight Bowl (when the Gophers blew a 31-point lead and lost, 44-41). Regardless of what Minnesota fans may have thought of the program under Glen Mason, there is no question that what has happened in Brewster's first year is a major step backward.

This reminds me of when Iowa fired Tom Davis and hired Steve Alford. Despite Davis' status as the all-time winningest coach in the program's history, the Iowa fans wanted someone who would "take the program to the next level." And Alford did take them to the next level -- the next level down! It looks like Minnesota fans should be careful what they wish for, or Brewster might pull an "Alford" on the Gopher football program!

One of three things is probably happening:

#1. His team sucks so bad this year for the same reason we had a rough start- complete change of play style.

#2. He is able to sell recruits on immediate playing time.

#3. He comes from the Kelvin Sampson school of recruiting.
