I see the program continuing to improve.
In college ball, you lose top players every year. We're replacing departures with very talented players. I do think that next year will be a better team, and I think that this year's team will be very good.

So you think freshmen and juco players are better than 5th year seniors?

Who returns and who are we bringing in? It's not always about who's leaving. Niang will be better and a starter next year. Gibson will hopefully take a big step next year as well. The JUCO's that Fred is bringing in all have a purpose for next year. And both Thomas and Monte will be significant contributors as well.

Next year isn't going to be as bad as everyone thinks.

They are when 5th year senior pg's are dishing out 0 assists in games...also way to have faith in your incoming recruiting class. Nobody knows how this year will pan out let alone next year. I personally don't think we will take a step back next year.

I care more about talent that year in school. That translates much better to the college game today.

I love this year's team. I simply believe that we're very talented next year as well. We'll have a couple of growing pains, bring it together, and make our annual run to March Madness.

Yes, I expect the tournament every year. That should be the baseline standard.

That was a rhetorical question, I know who's coming back and who is the freshman are.

Gotcha. Anyways I think Lucious and Jones are equal talent so that's a wash. Tyrus this year will be better than Thomas next year. Babb is much better this year than Dorsey-Walker will be next year. Clyburn is a much better overall player than Hogue. Booker and Edozie are probably pretty equal so that is a wash. We more than likely will only play 10 guys so either naz or Morris aren't going to play much or either Edozie, Amardi, or Hogue aren't gonna play much. So I just don't see how we would be better next year after looking at it closer.

I like our recruiting class a lot. But next year I don't think they will be
better than our 5 seniors this year. Maybe in a couple years they will but not next year IMO

I know I'm taking the unpopular position of defending nallen here, but he's entitled to his opinion as much as you are (and he took the effort to state it was his opinion this time). He didn't say he doesn't have faith in the incoming class. He did say he thought this year's team will be better than next year's.

And frankly I agree with him. In my opinion as talented as Thomas, Morris, and Jones are, as scrappy as the JUCOs are, and as improved as Niang, Long and Gibson will be the game experience we lose in Babb, McGee, Booker, Clyburn, and (yes) Lucious will be greater than the potential the new blood infuses. We obviously won't know the reality until next year, so maybe we should use this discussion board to discuss rather than jump on someone else's opinions.

    Re: Iowa State in Hawaii?

If we had Royce White this year, we'd be a top 10 team, top 15 at the least. Yes I said it, and I believe that. With that said, thats in the past (Royce leaving) and I think we have the potential to be good this year, however I think we'll only be an NIT team. Nobody knows their roles yet on this team, and I think Lucious is out to be a scorer and do to much, he's definitely not a PG, he's selfish and a turnover machine. I think Clyburn could be good after he shakes off the rust. Remember we saw it with Royce last year too, he was pretty unimpressive during the non-conference and kind of just exploded in conference play.

Christmas 2013 in Hawaii. That's a fact. Fred told me. I didn't ask any questions, I just said I would be there.
