    Please, do tell.

Iowa's standing with Coe is irrelevant.

Amen on Irving. Keep that young man on the field knocking down passes and kicks.

I wouldn't be opposed to this idea. He doesn't really have the speed on the edge right now to play on the end. It'd be interesting to see him play up the middle and disrupt passing lanes.

There is nothing that upgrades your LBs and DBs like a disruptive front four. Our guys up there played hard all year but we went such long stretches without getting to the QB, that just puts immense pressure on the back 7 guys and it showed in conference play. So all this is to say, Coe could be the most important guy in this class.

A 6'7"DT is unheard of, just tough to get a low enough pad level to be effective against the run. Irving needs to get stonger in the weight room, especially in the lowerbody.

Yeah... how many 6'7" DTs are there? I haven't seen many? Usually they are shorter and wider, which is not what Irving is. DTs need to get leverage and keep their pad level low. Not saying he couldn't play DT, just not likely IMO.

Irving is what he is. A project. And he may not get a whole lot better? It's hard to say? That's why I've tried to temper everyone's huge expectations for this kid. But yet, people continued to talk not only about him in the NFL, but some even went so far as to say they believed he might leave ISU early to the NFL. That is so beyond ridiculous it isn't even funny.

He's a serviceable DE, but nothing great. And we have to accept the fact that he might not be anymore than that. He is not Jason Berryman for example. Berryman came in and immediately was putting immense pressure on opposing QB's and getting sacks. Irving is not doing that at all at this point. Maybe he can develop into that, but he's far from it right now.

Exactly, if he were 310lbs, maybe he could move to DT but he's too tall/not nearly strong enough and doesn't play the leverage game well enough to move inside. He'll get eaten up. He still has a long ways to go towards being a consistent big 12 DE, he has glimpses but still takes too many plays off to be dominant yet. I've said before, he wont reach his potential until he gets to the next level.

He has a ways to go before regardless of position and could use a redshirt.

He could easily be 310 by next year.

Maybe Coe could lose a few pounds an be a strong punishing RB.

Irving has had ONE spring practice at Iowa State. ONE!

it wasn't until George's junior year and second spring with us that it finally clicked and he played to his potential

    Re: Recruiting: Rodney Coe commits

I think Coe could move around. I think you could see him at 3 tech during "pass rush" situations and DE in "big people" sets. This all depends on his development, of course.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.

And yet, is half way through his eligibility. David should have been redshirted. He could be a starter next year because his sheer size alone is valuable, but maybe Irving is playing to his potential? It is not just waiting for things to "click"- it is a lack of quickness, strength, and technique.
