Thanks. That makes sense. A part of me wants to go to the Music City Bowl. Televised on ESPN, facing a beatable SEC team, on December 31st. Sounds better than a game on ESPNU against a B1G team... But it seems like a bad situation if we only get one team in the BCS, and have Georgia Tech get the waiver. That would mean Shreveport most likely . I'm still gonna be hoping for getting only one team in the BCS and Georgia Tech not being eligible.

Re: ***Official What Bowl Are We Going To Thread***

Tried to do a little digging on if the Music City bowl is going to be an option for an at-large team or not.

-VA Tech winning will have nothing to do with it. It's all about whether GA Tech gets a waiver if they end up 6-7 or not.

-This Atlanta newspaper (Updated Tech bowl scenarios II | Georgia Tech) claims that GA Tech will get the waiver if they end 6-7 regardless of what some are saying to the opposite. I think the logic the author is using is very sketchy, so I think the bottom line is that nobody knows for sure if Georgia Tech will be eligible or not. Basically the author is saying that the rules the NCAA came out with this fall for the order of selection of teams worse than 6-6 were only drafted in case there were less than 70 eligible teams. Since there are 70 eligible teams now, Georgia Tech is free to bypass the 6-6 teams and the waiver approved because those rules no longer apply.

So it looks like if the B12 only gets 1 BCS team, and ISU falls to an at-large, Nashville may or may not be an option, but nobody is really going to know until the last minute.

It boils down to if you're feeling lucky:

You can root for two in the BCS and probably end up in Dallas...

Or you can root for one in the BCS, roll the dice, and see if we get Nashville or Shreveport

And here is another article that seems to indicate that GA Tech will not be eligible, and leave the Music City bowl open, but leaves open the possibility they could get approved too...

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets would need waiver for bowl if they lose to FSU Seminoles - ESPN

By the way, it looks to me like Memphis on New Year's Eve for the Liberty bowl would be open too, but as with most of these bowls that's anybody's guess...The C-USA champion will be there, but if it's Tulsa, I wonder if they'd want an ISU rematch or not.

As long as it's Houston, Dallas, or Nashville, I think most people will be happy, and I really think they'll end up in one of those places.

I had seen that earlier, and think it would only be an option if UCF beats Tulsa to win C-USA and get the Liberty Bowl bid. No chance of us going there if Tulsa's on the other side.

If there was ever a time when poll voters need to collude to screw over a team, it is now. Congrats to Kent State on a great season, but there is no way in **** that they deserve a BCS bid. No effing way. It would be a completely embarrassing loss and none of the other BCS teams will want to play them. The ratings will be horrible and the attendance will also probably be bad. The rule was set up to include teams like Boise State, TCU, and Utah who actually played against decent competition to get into BCS games.

Jerry Palm at CBS has updated his bowl projections to not include Georgia Tech in a bowl. He has Bowling Green going to Nashville as an at-large (and ISU in Dallas against Purdue).

And OU. If TCU upsets OU, they may lose BCS invite.

This is also the perfect time for people who hate the BCS to bump the MAC winner up just to prove how ridiculous the whole thing is. What better way to do so than to have Florida vs. Kent State in the Sugar Bowl?

And don't forget the role the Big East has in this mess. Rutgers losing to Pitt and Louisville losing to UConn are what has allowed Kent State or Northern Illinois to be in this position in the first place.

The only bright side of Kent State making a BCS bowl would be the hilarity of idiot bloggers and posters trying to treat Kent State as a legitimate expansion option.

Well we should have the 4 team playoff in 2014 so I think the BCS has been busted enough (by ISU last year to boot).

The Big East can go pound sand. Louisville had no business losing any of their games this season. Just stupid. Charlie Strong may have hurt his future employment options with the losses as well.

Re: ***Official What Bowl Are We Going To Thread***

My ideal outcome of this whole thing...

Kent State wins and makes the BCS. They demolish the Big East champion in the Orange Bowl. Just because.

Since Kent State made the BCS instead of Oklahoma, ISU is bumped out of the Big 12 bowls but gets to play in the Music City Bowl.

Meanwhile, Vanderbilt's coach James Franklin leaves to take a better job somewhere else. Vanderbilt moves quickly and hires Gene Chizik as his replacement. They get a bid to the Music City Bowl as well.

Cyclones demolish Chizik 78-0. The score is 42-0 at halftime, and Chizik says he is firmly entrenched in Nashville during the sideline interview as the teams are going to the locker room.

It is 70-0 near the end of the game but a 95 yard pass from Richardson to Lenz as time expires makes it 76-0, and Bueker says "F*** it" and runs in the end zone with the snap on the PAT instead of holding it for a kick.

Chizik slips and falls walking to midfield after the game to shake Rhoads' hand

And Vanderbilt fires him after the game as well
