Potential Richardson>>>>>>>potentional Barnett. Way better accuracy and mechanics.

Goes with being a QB (that started) versus being a back-up RB that gets a few carries a game. Like always in these situation, you get the most support when you are not playing.

Both of them are the rare guys that can lead a team when not seeing major PT.

I don't think he regressed. I think he's basically the same QB as last year playing behind a worse run blocking line this year (an arguably a marginally worse pass blocking one as well). Overall, I don't think he has a BCS-level arm but that could be worked around if he were a dominant, shake and bake runner or were pinpoint accurate. He's neither, so that leaves him with too many deficiencies despite having good judgement and leadership qualities. None of that matters if you can't make throws in this offense.

He definitely got a fair shot after Jantz started reverting to his turnover machine mode. I hear what you're saying about who he played against, but I can only take that so far. I saw enough from Richardson to make me believe that he's in the driver's seat for spring ball. I like Barnett and hope he sticks with it, because he can play a role on the team whether he's a starter at QB or not. It's clear he's a good teammate and wants ISU to win. Do I think he's going to get meaningful snaps from here on out? No, I don't.

I hope Maggit get's an extra year. Thought they put in for a medical redshirt to get him another year. Would be huge if he gets it.

Re: Looking ahead to Next Year

We thought JB was in the drivers seat heading into the bowl game last year and look how that turned out. He didn't even finish the game. I hope Sam shreds whoever we play and leaves no doubt he's the guy. It will be so Much better for the rest of the team to know heading into spring ball who the leader of the team is. This year there was no cohesion from the bowl game to spring practice to fall practice to week to week during the season. That had to be tough for the offense to find any semblance of rythym this year.

He threw 13/31 or something with 2-3 balls that should have been picked. I am betting Jantz get's the start in the bowl game. Just a feeling.

Re: Looking ahead to Next Year

Due to boredom I'm going to throw my two cents in. In terms of Barnett, I am in no way about to bury a rSoph QB, way to early in a players career for that, especially at QB. It's ridiculous to think he's done for good and by all means you want that type of kid in the program.

    QB - Richardson
    RB - Same group
    WR - Gary/West/Bundrage/Daley/PJ Harris
TE - Brun/Pierce Richardson (hopefully he makes the leap)
OL - A lot of familiar faces with high hopes that Dika can get healthy and get a medical redshirt year

    DT - Jensen/Woods
    DE - Irving/Scott
    LB - George/Miller
    NB - Morgan
    CB - Watson/Thomas or Lynn
    FS - Washington
    SS - Broomfield

Brackens was doing well on special teams, but I haven't seen him on the participation reports lately. I think he's been hurt.

Hamstring. CPR mentioned it on his call in show, said that JQ was about ready to join the rotation when it hit.

I think CPR is a great coach however, he better make sure that the QB coach figures out why he let JB regress and get that fixed this coming offseason, spring, and summer considering he is the only returning QB that's been in those huge battles and has true ski s on the wall
I'm not taking issue with JB, but you blaming all on his coach.

Maggitt is not eligible for a medical redshirt. He redshirted as a true freshman.

If you are thinking of a hardship sixth year of eligibility, that isn't applied for until after the season/bowl game. Not sure if he'd be eligible for that, either. Generally, you have to miss TWO seasons on top of your redshirt season--as Shaban Dika will have.

With any QB, I would start with confidence building. His is clearly shattered.

"Shattered"? Did that begin in the Pinstripe Bowl, when he started throwing passes into the ground, or this season, when he did the same? And how are you blaming the QB coach for that? He wasn't the one throwing the passes.
