i was there and i will say that i was extremely disappointed in attendance, students and general population alike. absolutely pathetic. it was obvious a crap ton of people just left at the half and never came back. i live in the south and am acclimated to warmer weather. don't people in iowa check the weather before a game. i was well prepared and never really got that cold and i HATE cold weather. i stayed till the final whistle, and even a bit longer.

just sad. can't say i would blame a recruit for not being all that impressed after that display of support.

nebraska in 2000 was way worse than this game in terms of cold.

If you don't win at home people will not show up. I will definitely be a season ticket holder for next year, but maybe some others will not cause we only won one game at home in conference play I hope not, but that could happen.

If people don't renew, they'll just be replaced. The demand is extremely high right now. If people choose not to renew, they likely won't be getting back in anytime soon.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

Just going off the box score on the USA Today website. Attendance for Kinnick was 69,800 or right in that area. I don't think the student section not being full affected anyone. The recruits, fans people watching on tv were aware that the students went home for the holidays.

This is a good example of why not to look at reported attendance. That is paid attendance there was less than that in the stadium, the student section was not full and of that 12,000+ of that 69,800 were Nebraska fans.

Sure doesn't look like it. Yesterday was colder and there was more wind than that game in 2000. Easily the coldest game I have been to.

Re: We will not take the next step until...

Almost 54,000 people showed up to the game on Black Friday and people are complaining about attendance. I love you guys and this website, but the holier-than-thou syndrome some of you guys have is pointless and annoying.

I thought this stadium was starting to be a difficult trip, but them we went 3-4 at home with no real upsets. That's not going to strike fear in our opponents.

This has a direct correlation to the teams ISU played at home vs. on the road, as opposed to where the games were played.

    Home:
    #2 KSU - L
    Top 25 OU - L
    Top 25 TT - L
    WVU - L
    Baylor - W

    Road:
    TCU - W
    KU - W
    OSU - L
    Top 25 TX - L

Were TCU and KU on the home list instead of the away, all of a sudden ISU has an above .500 home record and instead is a "bad road team".

The thing that you take from this is that ISU struggles against teams with superior athletes. Texas, OU, OSU, WVU. KSU didn't have the overwhelming speed advantage that these other teams usually have over ISU, but they were WAY bigger, and WAY stronger. Tech, well... yeah. Wanna forget that game.

Yes, it would be great to be able to pull off some of these upsets at home, where you feel like you have a better chance because of the atmosphere; and quite frankly, it'll probably have to happen that way if the team is going to finish above 6-6.

Either way, finishing 2-2 on the road and 1-4 at home doesn't leave a lot of room to say that ISU was a "better road team".

Besides Harper at WR, KSU was not way bigger.

Funny thing, this thread was started as a light criticism of Paul Rhoads for losing at home, and it was immediately derailed by the CPR-worshipers for criticisms of students for not showing up for the game. This is what really gets me about this board: everybody tries their utmost to shield him from criticism, criticizing anybody and everybody (Tom Herman, Messingham, the students, etc) but him.

I personally rarely criticize our coaching, because I don't know who would be the coach or coaches that could do much better. Obviously Mess has had his struggles, but I don't know who the coordinator would be that could be more successful at Iowa State.
