Perfect summation. If the offensive development over the past four years could have matched the defensive development over the past four years, this would have been a 7-8 win team. Have to break out of the bottom third of the conference standings and the only way to do it is to start scoring some damn points. I believe our head coach is up to the challenge. We haven't been this close to relevance since the Earle Bruce era.

The young Pre-College fans are very happy with 6 wins, because many were too young to experience the resurgence under D-Mac and really became clone fans during his last years and Chiz's tenure.

    Re: Great Season Cyclones!!

I was hoping for 7-5 going into the season, but told myself 6-6 would be fine given the extremely tough schedule.

After reading all the posts from the lame segment of the fanbase on here predicting a loss to KU two weeks ago, I am not going to complain that CPR and the boys got the job done and made it back to a bowl.

Going 1-4 in conference games at home is disappointing. Still lots of room for improvement in the program, but let's go have some fun in hopefully a warm place and get win #7!!!

Well they have a better football program so I guess that is why they are Hawk-like and have higher expectations.

I'll admit I predicted 5-7. I was wrong. But at the end of the day I feel like this team was capable of more. I can't deny we are on the up and up. But, 6 wins after today just isn't satisfying.

Look at it this way. Bowl games in 3 of past 4 seasons > NO bowl games in 3 of past 4 seasons.

Sure, we would all like more victories, but progress is being made and the future looks bright.

    Go Cyclones!

It was. Hard to stomach going 0-3 in games that were toss-ups going into the 4th quarter, all at home. In a good season we make the plays and win those. A great season we win those, upset OU, and go 10-2.

Not far off, but this was probably a bit of a peak year (although somewhat dulled with some key injuries).

Winning that game alone, ISU would be sixth instead of eighth (as of now).

    Re: Great Season Cyclones!!

I think being ranked half way through the season tempered expectations. We only got blown out once this year, against Texas, how many years can you say that? With the exception of Ok St., Texas, and maybe OU all the games were very winnable going into the forth qtr. We could easily be 8-4 with a couple key plays, so that's leaving a sour taste to the season. I think people are tired of finishing 6-6 every year and are ready to take the next step up, but a very entertaining season none the less.

What about Kstate? I'd like to have those two chances again with SR at QB

Plenty of other sour grapes, mud slinging threads for you.
We are going bowling, why don't you go watch Iowa in their bowl game.... oops now theirs a team to shoot down.

I am a fan that is not content with mediocrity, and I am confident that I am not the only one.

There was no mud slinging, but just stating that I have higher expectations than 6 wins. Especially since we had multiple opportunities to get above that plateau. Like CPR said at the beginning of the season we don't aspire to win 3 games in conference. I'm sure he also believes that great is to strong of a word to describe this season as well.

I never said it was a bad season, but I will say it wasn't great.

I am happy with a bowl for the record.

    Re: Great Season Cyclones!!

Had I known the schedule would have included Baylor, Iowa, WVU having the records they have.... 6-6 I guess is a very slight disappointment. But I am very happy with a bowl game.

I think the reason people have somewhat lost their fire is that we went 1-4 at home in the Big 12.
