He is the reason I am excited to watch the bowl game. The weeks of practice at the one should help, and next year, he could be a big key.

Heck of a game with that wind. Compare it to what Geno did with better weapons, and he measures up.

WVU did their best to create this rivalry with all the head-hunting they did and trying to rip off his head on that last drive.

The guy has thrown for what, seven TDs, no interceptions and run for about 150 yards in 2 games? Yeah, that is pretty good.

Yeah, and our D still didn't press the run. Sickens me we didn't at least put six in the box every play. Burnham gave WVU this game.

Burnham and Rhoads were about the only ones to stop the White/Slayton WVU. To say they know what they are doing is an understatement. We had six in the box most of the game as well. "The box" isn't the line of scrimmage. They beat us. Get over it. We were scared of Geno Smith, like everyone is, and they just kept it on the ground and didn't go away from it.

Don't think R. should be carrying for, what?, 18 times; if he starts next year, his body is not going to stand up to too many days like today. And WV may not defend the pass very well, but their run defense ranked pretty high before today. Last point: we did not do a very good job putting pressure on Smith.

The plan was sound- the players were in position to make the plays. For the most part they made them. You cannot game plan around losing 3 starters in the back seven. It is hard to hide 2 or 3 guys. Not to singe anyone out, but 4.8 speed does not bode well against Austin in the open field and nor does 185 lb match-up with Alston.

Will not be an issue with better conditions.

Richardson looks cool in the pocket, just like all the good ones do.

Sunshine did great all things considered. Those final two plays (drop and fumble) were not his fault. Make one of those and his tired legs dont even get brought up.

    Re: Sam Richardson, Act II

I thought he did well given the conditions today. WVU was just a faster team than us and it showed Tavon Austin is a really nice weapon to have and our defense did not get much pressure on Geno. Speed kills.

    Re: Sam Richardson, Act II

If Barnett, Jantz, Arnaud, Meyer, Flynn, etc. went 13/31 against one of the worst defenses in the country no one would say anything remotely close to "they played well." He was great running and brutal throwing. The TD pass to Bundrage was an AWESOME pass and the rest of the game was ugly, especially against a defense that terrible.

Now, some of that is due to the lack of receivers and some of that is due to head scratching play calling but 13/31 will never, ever, ever be a great stat line. The wind is an excuse. Most of our passes were within 10 yards of the LOS that any D1 quarterback should be able to throw through. And Geno didn't have to throw the ball...they were destroying us running it.

I know what the box is, I've played football my entire life. We slowed them down, but I don't consider 31 points a stop. We were in that same defense in the last 2 minutes, when we needed a big stop and guess what, they still ran over us.

I'm tired as **** of everyone on this board calling everyone an idiot for questioning what happened after a loss. This was a winnable game and we let them run all over us without changing anything up to stop it. I'm not calling for anyone's head, just voicing my frustration. A frustration that built over the entire game as they ran all over us. It would be nice if there was a better reason than, "We were afraid of Geno Smith" if that really was our Defensive mentality going into this game, then they should have told the fans, so we didn't have to watch.
