Re: Grinnell College Player Scores 138 Points

You would think the game plan was to see how many Jack could score and either FBC was for it too or their coach should be fired for not figuring it out. Hello, triangle & 2?!?!

“One day we’ll be in here celebrating a Big 12 championship,” Rhoads said. “That I can promise you.”

"I hope to coach here until I retire," Hoiberg said.

    It's what the Pioneers do!

This is normal for Grinnell. Here's a good article on the way they play:

    SI.com - Writers - D-III Grinnell gets national stage - Monday January 31, 2005 11:50AM

They normally have a game like this each year where someone gets to set a record (I saw the most assists ever by a single player, and saw a player drop 78). It helps with recruiting at a D3 school.

Jack Taylor must be the Percy Gibson of perimeter players.

I knew I should of looked it up before I posted so thanks for the correction.

I watched a bit of the video replay (before it stopped -- I think their site is getting hammered) and the commentators mentioned that they were going to try to have Taylor break the scoring record. Normally everyone participates in the hockey-style substitutions, but he played most of this game (he averaged 13.5 mpg in the other two games).

Faith isn't about to fire their coach. They would be a real case where the sport is not a main focus of the school, but a ministry tool to the school's mission.

As a school competing in the NCCAA, they're basically North Carolina A&T for Grinnell, but without the big payday.

It's really wild to see one of my alma maters involved in that score!

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.

Re: Grinnell College Player Scores 138 Points

Good for him. I'm amused by some of the outcry on this and people that are just plain mad. It's just a game and they choose to play a different style. Doesn't take away from what Wilt did in his day.

No one freaks over the type of offensive stats Texas Tech and a few others put up...
