    Freshman Class

Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I was listening to the Applebee's call in show last night and John Walters started talking with Coach Rhoads about how he had redshirted this years entire freshman class. It's really rare to see a program do that anymore and I think it speaks volumes about the depth we're developing. All those kids are going to be a year more mature and stonger when they finally hit the field as well as more comfortable with our system. Hope we can keep doing this every year.

Love redshirting guys. Would be nice to have AJ, JK, and Reeves back.
Imo Irving, Miller, George, Brackens, and Morrissey should have redshirted

And we are talking about some big O-lineman and already-right-sized D-lineman. Some of these guys could have contributed this year. The redshirt year will be great for them.

But at the same time these guys wont have any game experience, and that is always nice to have as well.

    Re: Freshman Class

This class (2012) is arguably our most talented class under CPR so far. Would've been pointless to not redshirt them since most if not all wouldn't have seen playing time anyway. I like the idea of using a whole season to bulk these guys up, let them get used to the program and get used to the team. Rather them have a substantial impact 2 years from now then a small impact as a true freshman

agree. i really cant wait to see these kids on the field. especially some of the d-line guys like aka and bevins. i think charlie rogers is gonna be really good and hopefully luke knott ends up being as good as jake, although that is really unfair as jake is one of the best LBs in school history. also cant wait to see the big dawg on the o-line

    Re: Freshman Class

The freshman year is also a big transition emotionally from being home to living away from family. Add that to getting down to business in academics and what's already been said, and the redshirt thing makes really really good sense.

Big Dawg will be good. As will Seeley. I hope Charlie sticks around but it's not promising.

    Re: Freshman Class

Excited to read of the entire freshman class being redshirted, but am wondering if this means the bar is finally getting raised to the point that the three walk-ons from our high school (West Marshall) may never see the field.

    Re: Freshman Class

I'm also excited for Big Dawg to take the field the guy seems like he will be a beast out there. Quan west is another guy that isn't getting much attention. I heard he tore his ACL earlier this year but the kid is no doubt good. I can't wait to see what him, P.J. Harris, and Daley bring to the table. All 3 are 3 star players. Kane Seeley is another guy to keep your eye on.

We signed 21 in this class and 16 of them are 3 star kids. I know a lot of you don't think stars really matter but IMO its good to see we are getting kids with potential

Why do you think Rogers is leaving? Because of some cryptic tweets that could be about anything?

Even if Charlie is questioning his future, he will probably really enjoy all of the development time the young guys get during bowl practices. Hopefully that excitement holds him over until spring practices. Then he will get his shot to see the field next fall.

    Re: Freshman Class

Really think the class is deep with talent. Just hope they mature & improve upon that talent. Lawry is a 6-foot DB with very good athletic ability, as is C Rogers. Mutherson may be an x-factor player like Sims or Givens (that is, coming in as a couple years older into the program, but not the JC route like Sims & Givens) and seems to have some natural ball-hawking skills in addition to being a physical player (from what Wally has eluded to in the past).

Think Devlyn Cousin gets lost amongst the other DL. 6'2" & 270 coming in (roster says he's 289 now) - after a year and a half what will he look like? Darius White @ LB - came in at 230-pound LB. Burton on the OL out of Oklahoma. Daley, Harris, & Q West - all WRs with size.

Really think the depth of the program is really starting to show. Finish off this year's recruiting class with few more players like this Curtis and things will be looking very good.
