    Question about the Lucca situation...

I don't think I have seen this answered yet, and I think it poses a good question. Right now with Lucca being ineligible for the year, he can not redshirt and he loses the year of eligibility. But say the NCAA stalls around with the process and Lucca ends up getting 5-10 games of eligibility this year. Instead of just playing him those 5 or w/e games could Lucca then redshirt because the suspension wasn't for the whole year?

This is a good question, but I would think not...

yeah i highly doubt it. even if the NCAA had a rule where they said it was ok to redshirt, they would just screw him out of that one too...... unless he transfered to Duke, Texas, UNC, that is...

Yes then the NCAA would grant him a hardship waiver so he would not have to sit out a year......

He could redshirt this year, but then he would have to serve his suspension whatever the length at the beginning of next year.

College is a great experience, but I would guess that Lucca will be ready to move on to some type of professional (note to NCAA - a real one) career after 4 years.

That's a very good question. My assumption is that it wouldn't work, but who knows.

I have a bad feeling that we're not going to see Lucca this year. And we won't even get a decision until December.

Re: Question about the Lucca situation...

What I want to know is why it is taking them so long to get back to us on what their position is after receiving more information from our compliance office. Even if the report is near fifty pages that still should only constitute about 2-3 hours of reading, tops. I'm sure they have the man power to be able to do any research into our report if they wanted to and I'd bet if they actually tried they could get it knocked out in 2-3 days even with coordinating their contacts. Then, they can spend two hours a day talking it over with the other members of the committee and probably be able to button it up in 2-3 days. So, give them a day to receive the report, a day to read it, 3 days to research what we sent them, and another 3 days to discuss what should be done. Finally, the next day they should release their conclusion. That would have them getting a result back about 2 weeks after they received the report. I think that this would be a reasonable, but not especially great, timetable. If they take any longer than that I believe they need to be reminded that these are young peoples' lives they are dealing with and time is the one currency which can not be refunded. And, that it is unacceptable for them to rob a person of time doing something they love while also keeping them uncertain and anxious of their future just because a few people in a position of authority do not know how to manage their, and in effect a young athlete's, time.

If you are wondering, the ninth day would be Friday.
