    Tyrus

Tyrus performed ourstanding as a starter, but I love his natural spark and energy infusion coming from the bench, and he mentally doesn't seem impacted by it. I wish there was a stat for the number of balls kept alive and the % won of what are normally 50:50 balls. We talk about shooting, defense...etc. but his general energy is fun to watch. I was a bit dissappointed at first last year as I had hoped he could play the 1 for longer stretches, but dissappointed no more. He really seems to embrace the role he brings to the team.

    Re: Tyrus

Tyrus really is a gem for this team. He does all the little things you want out of a player, he thinks team first, plays d, hustles, communicates, and that only names a few. I really started getting bummed during last nights game thinking about not having him next year, but we're gonna enjoy him all year long this season. Great team player that gives it all, all the time.

I think he may take exception to the nickname you have for him.

Tyrus and Melvin play the game hard. I love watching those two go at it.

    Re: Tyrus

I see Tyrus as our "James Harden" good enough guy to start but much better suited at the 1st man off the bench as he lights a huge spark when he enters a game.

    Re: Tyrus

Prior to Campbell game, some fans hoped Tyrus would start over Babb, suggesting how McGee may have earned starting role (probably true) and how it might affect players mentally if they have to come off the bench rather than be a starter.

McGee appears to do quite well in 6th man role, and apparently doesn't perform any worse because of it.

    Re: Tyrus

It's crazy to think about the fact that our bench will average 35-40 points this year.

Numbers are likely to drop a bit with heftier competition, but you have to love the balance.

Look at the scoring averages so far:

That's a bit of an overestimation. But we have 3 good scorers off the bench with Mcgee, Niang, and Gibson. Very excited about this group of guys.

    Re: Tyrus

We have nine guys that can play with little to no let-off. I really like the way they are defending right now, and Tyrus McGee is a major contributor to that intensity, both with his words and his actions.
