    1. Cameron Indoor Stadium (Duke)
    2. Breslin Center (Michigan State)
    3. Hilton Coliseum (Iowa State)
    4. Kohl Center (Wisconsin)
    5. Rupp Arena (Kentucky)
    6. Phog Allen Fieldhouse (Kansas)
    7. Assembly Hall (Indiana)
    8. The Pit (New Mexico)
    9. Carrier Dome (Syracuse)
    10. McCarthey Athletic Center (Gonzaga)

    3.Hilton Coliseum (Iowa State)

In the 1980's, Johnny Orr built the Iowa State basketball program into respectability. Most of his success as coach was at home, thanks to the Hilton Magic he created. Hilton Magic is now back with "The Mayor" Fred Hoiberg coaching in Ames. Hilton Coliseum remains a difficult place to win because the fans are loud consistently throughout the game.

At least OK State isn't on that list.

Re: 10 Most Intimidating College Basketball Arenas

I wasn't a big fan of the link CyclonesMBB sent out was answers.com either but I thought it would be a good conversation piece and it is still great publicity. Cameron Indoor is one of a kind and Breslin is amazing so to be third only to those two is saying a lot.

Yes, but of course we also reserve the right to relegate Answers.com to the gates of Hades if that website fails to worship at the feet of Hoiball at any moment.

Re: 10 Most Intimidating College Basketball Arenas

I know the source is not credible, but in the interest of carrying on the conversation-there is no way the Carrier Dome should be on this list. I was there on Big Monday when they had Carmelo and went on to win the national championship. Bought court side seats for $20/each 45 minutes before tipoff. They were playing their arch rival Georgetown.

Granted there were a lot of people there but it's a curtained off football stadium, and some of them can't see the floor without field glasses. They don't make a lot of noise and the atmosphere isn't what you get at Allen, Hilton, Mich State, etc. Not even close

Has just as much validity as a BR article in my book, and looks like you didn't have to get click baited to get the info either, so bonus.

Re: 10 Most Intimidating College Basketball Arenas

Ah, I see the photo is from the infamous "Hilton Screwjob" from two years ago.

"I watch the Cyclone players and they look like guys who grew up fighting for everything they got, on and off the court. In a word, men. I look at the Iowa players and I assume when they were kids they played soccer in leagues that didn't keep score to avoid hurting anyone's feelings. There is not one single leader on this team. It's a group of high school friends playing a pickup game at the YMCA and maybe they will keep score, maybe not, because they are just happy to be there."

The Pit has a new name from what I have heard. Can't remember what the new name is and I am too lazy to look it up.
