    RECRUITING: Updated hoops scholarship chart

My guess is that Solomon Young will end up committing at some point this week too. Jackson plus Young would be an impressive start to Prohm's first class.

One other note: Don't be surprised if Jordan Ashton ends up with one of those two open scholarships for this season.

Thought that might happen. I'd say he's pretty deserving of one as well.

Why don't you update the Women's scholarship chart while you're at it.

That was my question too? I would think they would not give a two year here, as we probably need that "second year" for a SF/Big for 2016.....but I have also never heard of putting a guy in scholarship for one year, with understanding he is a walk on for the following....

I'm kind of torn on that. If he's good enough to deserve a.schollie, give it. If not, why are we spending money we shouldn't? Wouldn't it be more fiscally responsible to not spend the money? I mean, if the school budgeted x amount for raises but only thought that the employees merited y, do you spend the rest just because?

There is more to it. If a player may be needed to play during the season, the scholarship ensures that they are available (read road games). You save money by winning more games > 1 scholarship.

Saw Brady Ernst at FanFest. He looked bulkier than I expected. Nice.

I don't worry about the money on one scholarship, the basketball program has budgeted for 15 the program every year and Hilton sells out paying for it. It isn't like that the extra scholarship is granted to a non athlete student in need.
Ashton is putting in the time practicing and attending functions with the team already. He gets to travel as a reward I understand the staff extending him one. Plus, the staff may think he may actually get sparing minutes as a defensive stopper thus deserving.
Part of me would like to keep the schollys open for possible mid-season transfers but it is rare to get 2 of those in one year.

Young could be good down the road when he develops an offensive game. Great athlete though.
