We passed by it as well and it seemed as if a couple people were darn near panic mode. One gal started running towards the pay booth so we weren't sure if they didn't have phones and she wanted someone to call 911 or what. We wanted to stop and see if we could help but there were so many cars and stopped traffic that we probably would have made it worse. I'm surprised someone else didn't hit them. When we got up to pay, I asked the gal if she had heard anything about an accident and she hadn't but by the time we were heading away from the pay booth we could see quite a few emergency response vehicles flying that direction. Hoping as well that no one got hurt too bad.
Definitely was a dangerous situation with plenty of cardinal & gold on the people at the scene.
Found the accident on the Kansas Turnpike logs, only one from last night so it is likely the one that you guys are speaking of. Two injured in the vehicle that was struck from behind, both taken to the hospital. Both drivers were uninjured.
The vehicle that was struck was from Iowa, and likely Iowa State fans. The vehicle that struck them was from Lawrence.
Yeah the Escalade seemed like a regular guy. The car that got hit from behind were Iowa State people. We passed it right after it happened. (No cops had arrived) Hope it wasn't anyone on here and that everyone was ok.
