Listening to the color guy last night...

While the play-by-play commentor kept ranting & raving about how good Sam looked last night, the color guy kept saying "Kansas needs to bring pressure on a young QB". And, in the second half, they did.

I was impressed with his performance in the first half, but his performance in the second half was even more impressive. Sure, his output dropped, but he also seemed to handle the pressure well. And if a defense has to bring the hammer to try to rattle the QB, there's going to be one or two open receivers or a big hole for a RB to slip through.

And, if you think about it, we "won" the second half 20-6. And that's with us slowing down the tempo to try and eat up the clock, and benching Richardson for Barnett (to help keep Sam healthy for next weekend I would suppose).

Overall, a good performance against a hungry team that's desperate to win a game (and damn near has won games the last 2 weeks). I'm optimistic about Friday's game, and our chances of jumping someone for a slightly better bowl game if we look good against the couch-burners.

Excellent post. ISU actually "won" all 4 quarters! When was the last time ISU outscored it's opponents in ALL 4 quarters? - Another question for the historians out there.

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.

I was impressed with his second half too. While the game plan got more conservative, it wasn't like they were only asking him to throw the safe passes.

I wish I remembered an actual quote, but it seemed like they were ripping on Crist too. They were joking about trying to come up with more ways to praise Richardson though, which was a nice change of pace for ISU.

Are you kidding? That man owned the third quarter! Now, the other three we don't need to talk about because that would only bring back bad memories, nightmares, death and destruction for cyclone fans. But when it came to third quarters and inspirational losses.....no one, and I mean NO ONE...beat Danny Mac!

I didn't realize how bad it was until I woke up with a hangover this morning from the drinking game.
