Ignoring the fact there may be more than two "quality" players in this class...We do not need him to be a Gilstrap player to have a big impact on the team.
Although getting a ranked high-school big man like Washington would have made Cydkar highly aroused, there is a very good chance that a post like Edozie will make next year's team better more so than Washington. With Niang, Ejim, and Gibson, we need a guy to commit to eating up some space, playing defense, and getting rebounds. That is not Washington's game.

I wanted both, and adding a talent like Washington is never bad. However, to simply say next year's class will need to be better because only two of the recruits are ranked is being a simplton (plus, 2 top 100 recruits every year would give ISU more talent than ever before).

Like I said, we'll be fine but I'm anxious to put out a big 12 championship roster. We don't have that and the recruiting of the other big 12 teams is freaking outstanding.

Re: Positive signs program is on the rise

We have some young talent with Naz, Niang and Percy that appear to be a solid nucleus. Between MM, MT and MJ and SDW/Okoro, our backcourt does not worry me too much.

Percy has two more and Niang appears to be a stud and has 3 more.

Between the three Juco players, law of averages says that at least one of them works out.

We do need 1 quality big and 1 quality wing in 2014. If we whiff on those we can start to get a little worried about 2014-15 and beyond. But let's also remember recruiting 1-2 transfers to supplement is always an option too.

Classes like this probably won't build a consistent challenge to KU for #1 in the league but I think Hoiberg will find enough talent to dance 2/3rds of the time with a class like this

im kind of up in the air on our recruiting class for 2013. Morris and Thomas are studs, but the other players are questionable. I wish we could have gotten a few more high school studs

Re: Positive signs program is on the rise

It's a good class, will be interesting to see how the jucos turn out (I think all of them have some potential). If you look back to the past when we were a contender in the Big 12 we never landed very highly rated recruiting classes (have we ever even had two top 100 hs recruits in the same class?). I think this gives us a good mix of more developed juco players that can contribute immediately and talented hs players that could become two of the better players ever at ISU.

Two four star recruits? One possible McDonald's all-American? You would be concerned if we got that EVERY YEAR? You people need a reality check.

We missed on our bigs for 2013. With Percy, Niang, and Ejim, we didn't necessarily need a big for 2013 (although it would have been nice). If we miss on bigs in 2014, then I'll start complaining.

In terms of offense, I am not sure the Juco's have much potential. That is okay.

Yea, I'm not saying they are likely to start or be some of the top scorers on the team, but I think they have the potential to give some good minutes (added depth) and some scoring. Hard to really predict what role they will have when we are still a year away from next basketball season though.

This is true. My point is that we need to do better. The staff would have the exact same attitude...and should. This isn't a bad class, which I've stated. It's actually a good class. We need GREAT classes to win a B12 championship. The goals have changed since the Mac era.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 2014 class is a great class. I'm not accusing the staff of not trying. You don't get every player that you want. Ever.

My point is we do not need to do better. Doing better would be preferred, but we will be competing for deep runs in March if we recruit like we have the past 3 classes. The issue thus far has been Fred started with nothing and White left early, not recruiting.

The goals have changed, it is about getting wins in the NCAA tournament. I'd trade last year for the 2001 Big 12 title season every time.

You'd trade a Big 12 title for one win in the NCAA tournament?

Better talent is needed to compete for a Big 12 title and make runs in the NCAA tournament. One win isn't a run and it won't be good enough if it becomes the norm. Consistent trips to the NCAA sounds good/great now but expectations will rise and it won't be good enough without advancing.
