    Red/Green lights violate establishment clause?

It appears fort collins has banned red and green lights from public displays.

I guess I don't see how lighting schemes coerce people to follow Christianity. It's pretty funny actually.

At first I felt like I should be offended but I soon realized Christmas to Christians has little to do with lights, trees or garland. Fort Collins can ban away for all I care!

I'm not sure how red and green lights are really any different than any other colored lights...

When you hang red and green lights together during the Christmas season they merge together, and they summon the wrath of Jesus to smite the non-believers. Kind of like Captain Planet.

There's yellow in between the red and green on traffic lights, that makes it ok.

Retards, the origional Christmas trees had candles on them - aka white lights. Some people... seroiusly. Way to ruin it for everyone by not wanting to offend a few people. Oh, lets go drive around and look at the PRETTY WHITE SNOW FLAKES IN STORE WINDOWS THAT HAVE NEXT TO NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOLIDAY SEASON

"Screw this I'm going to 'Nam..."

Snowflakes have nothing to do with the holiday season? Winter is the holiday season, I'd say snow fits.

Winter is not Christmas, Christmas takes place in winter. That is a lose connection... when you think "Christmas" you think trees, presents, lights, Jesus's birth if you're a Christian, and oh maybe there is a white back ground depending on where you live...

While this is some serious stupid and I don't agree, it is just the city property that is affected, no one is telling individual citizens what they can and can not display.

Christmas takes place in December, December is in the winter, winter is largely associated with snow, snow is made of snowflakes, shall I slow down?

Congratulations, you repeated what I said. People celebrate Christmas in the places without snow too though... and snow can be associated with more than just Christmas.

I've been swimming in the Atlantic ocean on Christmas Day, and have had many green christmas's. There is a lot more to Christmas than just a snow flake. Shall I slow down?

Re: Red/Green lights violate establishment clause?

You were ranting before about PEOPLE WHO PUT SNOWFLAKES IN WINDOWS THAT HAVE NEXT TO NOTHING TO DO WITH THE HOLIDAY SEASON (your caps not mine). But snow and snowflakes do have something to do with the holiday season. Holiday season extends through most of December and into January, that is winter, and now we're back to what winter brings. Thank you for bringing me up to date on the fact that their are different climates throughout the world, obviously though I'm talking about Iowa and Ames more specifically since that is where we live. In Iowa, the thought of winter would be very closely followed by the thought of snow. So yes, snowflakes do have SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE HOLIDAY SEASON (your caps not mine).

Re: Red/Green lights violate establishment clause?

Winter actually begins December 21st/22nd and ends in March around the 21st/22nd. Snow and Christmas go together but it is not as big of an icon as other symbols, which was my point
