Post Bush's Wars Cost Each US Family $20,000

Good article pointing out that each US family will pay $20,000 in taxes to support the failed wars...

Re: Bush's Wars Cost Each US Family $20,000

I wouldn't call them failed. No terrorist attacks on this country since 9/11 and removal of a violent dictator is not failing. But that is a whole different argument.

$20,000 is A LOT of money. Unfortunately while spending all of this money on wars, President Bush & Congress decided it was still okay to keep spending on other things like we were not in a war.

Re: Bush's Wars Cost Each US Family $20,000

The original poster should be embarrassed to cite the $20,000 amount is an accurate number. If you actually read the article Jeremy you would note that the $20,000 is not attributed to taxes alone but also to other "factors":

"Some of the report's estimates need to be taken with a grain of salt, experts warn, because it is difficult to ascribe factors like increasing oil prices to the war in Iraq alone."

Also, its instructive to know that said original poster considers Afghanistan a failed war. Maybe Jeremy would rather have OBL still training terrorists in Afghanistan then to have Al queda constantly on the defensive.

Will Jeremy respond to the critisisms or shy away from the discussion? I can't wait to find out.

Who cares, we would have just ****** the money away on failed social programs and welfare anyway. What is the difference.

You don't see the difference on spending money on us as opposed to spending the money on Iraq? You don't think a trillion dollars or whatever the number is at now could've been better spent here? It's ignorant to say "oh, we would've just wasted it some other way, so who cares." I care.

How about spending a trillion dollars on research, development, and infrastructure for alternative energy sources? Would that be different?

Hey, I try to do my part. The problem is that while I am generally very liberal, I also don't shy away with agreeing with conservatives when they happen to be right. I guess it makes me less fun, and I’m still waiting for someone to refer to me a “liberal whacko” or “you liberals are so predictable.” I feel a little left out

No not really, it would just be wasted either way. At least this way we are making the world a better place in the long term, rather than just lining politicians buddies pockets.

Do you really think that if Congress was given an extra trillion they would spend it wisely? You know that 's not true.

Ok, that sounds great, but when has the gov ever done that? They would have just ****** it away on more silly social programs and huge pork barrel projects.
