    With anything cival rights related, I have such a hard time understanding how something like happened in this country less than 50 years ago. No wonder we still struggle with race issues....we are a generation removed from segregation. A generation.

    Having lived in Iowa and the south (Oxford specifically), it is pretty surreal walking on the grounds where James Meredith enrolled and still seeing the bullet holes in the columns of the Lyceum. Ole Miss is definitely its own world and still has the historical feel that is being portrayed. It has definitely come a long ways though.

    My thoughts as well. As someone who has always lived in Iowa, it's disgusting to see this. The fighting, the bigotry, the N-word, the rebel flag, all of it.
