    Big 10

I was just thinking...had Illinois not had a mulligan against Iowa and should Ohio State beat Michigan (which I expect to happen), Illinois (with the 2 losses) would win the Big 10, not one-loss Ohio State.

    Damn, that would've been fun.

I was a big fan of Illinois this season, I think they're going to be a tough team for a while.

Anything to knock tOSU out of the national picture is good in my book.

I am kind of fixated with Illinois. Love what they have going on. It's not specifically about the Big 10...mostly Illinois. I certainly would not have cried if OSU and Michigan didn't win the Big 10 title.

Zooker takes a lot of heat sometimes, but I've liked what he's been building.

    Re: Big 10

I think Zooker has a high profile and that causes people to overly focus on his shortcomings. He's building a program that is probably going to be in the top 3 in the Big 10 for as long as he is there from here on out.

    Re: Big 10

When watching the IL-OSU game Saturday, they were showing some clips of a couple older Illinois games. In the early or mid 90's, that team was ranked in the Top 15 in whatever game they showed. I forgot that Illinois actually used to play some football.

cause we can actually watch their games. Plus it is college football, I would watch the WAC over the NFL.

Second that. At least CFB has parity, and it's got some fun games to watch.

I think it was Illinois with Mike White as coach that was the first team to really open up the offense in the Big Ten. White was the coach about the time Fry came to Iowa.

I think it was actually Ron Turner's Sugar Bowl team with Kurt Kittner at QB.

If you don't think there is parity in the NFL, you obviously don't watch. There is a reason so many games come down to a field goal.

    Re: Big 10

Just did some research on how the Big 10 and Big 12's non-conference schedules stand up:

These numbers are as of today, looking at the Big 10's non-conference games vs the Big 12's.

    ................Overall.............vs D-I...........vs BCS
    Big 10.......35-9 (.80)......29-7 (.80).......5-4 (.56)
    Big 12.......36-9 (.80)......29-8 (.78).......5-4 (.56)

Overall extremely similar. Of note, however, is that the Big 10 played zero non-conference games against ranked opponents (at the time of the game), while the Big 12 played 5 (Auburn, USC, Georgia, TCU (twice)). Also, the Big 10 got 4 wins vs Notre Dame, for what its worth.

(I didn't go back and double-check anything, so if you find an error, good for you)

I think Joe Tiller was the first one to bring the true spread to the Big Ten...and yes 22, I remember we used to call the Illini "Thrillinois" when Lou Tepper coached them, due to there good teams which has a pension for entertaining play.

A "pension" for entertaining play? When the play was over, it could retire with university-funded fiscal support?
