WBB receiving votes in AP pre-season poll

Iowa State got enough points to start out at #30. Four league teams are ranked, while three more received votes. How the Big 12 stacks up:

    1) Baylor
    12) Oklahoma
    17) West Virginia
    23) Oklahoma State
    26) Kansas
    29) Texas
    30) Iowa State

Re: WBB receiving votes in AP pre-season poll

How Kansas is not in the top 25 baffles me.

Will really be a tough year to figure out teams #4 through #25 in rankings. :-) Lots of good teams. Only a few standouts this year to me: Baylor, UConn, Duke, Maryland, Stanford, and Kentucky.

    Overrateds:
Notre Dame is a big question mark for me because of their lack of post game depth/experience, and lost three major players, Peters, Novosel, and Mallory. Notably, heard Markisha Wright of DSM might be getting lots of playing time. Wish we had gotten her.

Tennessee - while the legacy of respect is there, this team is young beyond young with a new coach, and I hear plans are to change up the style of TN some this year to more run and gun, so, new coach, new system, and lots of new players.

Delaware - Delle Donne is well, #2 player in the country, but that team just doesn't have enough around her to compete at the top 25 level consistently.

Re: WBB receiving votes in AP pre-season poll

It's really hard to put any stock into the AP rankings for WBB, especially this time of year. They are almost meaningless. Only a few of the voters have paid any attention to what's going on.

Where is Frau Bluder and the Hawkettes? She was on the news last Friday proclaiming Morgan Johnson as the best center in the country!!!

But the first ESPN poll is so valuable when the rankings are nearly identical?

Like any poll, they give you an idea to see who else is out there that might make some noise. More than anything else, it starts converstations just like this one.

Blunder's team is 40th, so someone thinks they might amount to something (not me). Sorry, had to delete the photo of Johnson in the quote - couldn't take two of her in this thread. (insert the much-needing 'puking emoticon' here)

Morgan Johnson is a good center. Iowa has a lot of pieces for a great team, just not a great strategy/game coach.
